The Board of Commissioners met in regular session on Monday November 5th, 1951
at 10.o!clock A. M. with L. A. Tart, Chairman, B. P. Ingram, uP1orth Lee Byrd and
C. G.'Fields present also present were the County Attorney and the Auditor and the
Clerk-to the Board.

Be it resolved that, that property acquired by- Harnett County under tax fore-
closure in Judg. SD # 2493 -A -1565 be deed to E. A. Betts; Grove yownship for
cash 'amount of $86.53 being a lot formerly owned by him in Grove Township. The
chairman: is hereby authorized to executed deed and Clerk will attest same.
:Be= it resolved that the 12 acres in Grove Township, acquired by Harnett County
in Tam foreclosure under Judg. #'SD #2522 -A -1565 be sold to Tyson Stewart for the
amount 'in cash of `$)195.82 and the Chairman is hereby authorized to execute deed
and ache Clerk will attest same.

be allowed to take Farm Census for the year. (mortion carried)
The Board ordered the offices closed for Thanksgiving Day November 22nd.
R. L. Pate moved seconded by B. P. Ingram that cases of tax paid whiskey
be sold to Cumberland County A. B. 0,'Board and proceeds be turned over to Harnett
County School.Board that size bottles be given in equal parts to Dunn Hos-
pital and Good 'Hope Hospital to be used for Medical purposes. (motion carried)
R. L. Fate moved seconded by 'Worth Lee Byrd that Robert Morgan C. S. C. be
granted one year leave of. absence -to begin January lst, 1952, and Mrs. Brantley,
Matthews, Deputy C S C will serve as Clerk during his absence. (Motion. carried)
Upon motion of Commissioner Pate, seconded by Commissioner Byrd, it was ordered
that the names of persons, firms and corporations who had failed to list their
property for taxes as requited by Articles 17,18, and 19 of Chapter 105 of the
General Statutes of North Carolina be presented to the Grand,Jurty of Harnett
County, and the Tax Supervisor for Harnett County was ordered to present such names
to the Grand Jury of Harnett County for and on behlf of the Board of Commissioners
of Harnett County,

Thereupon the following resolution was presented and read:
Whereas, Honorable Robert B. Morgan, Clerk of Superior Court of Harnett County
has filed with this Board an application for a leave of Absence from his:postion as
Clerk of Superior Court of Harnett County under the provisions of Chapter 121.
Section 2 of the Public Laws of North Carolina, 1941, in order to return to active
duty in the United States Navy, said leave of absence to become effective on January
1, 1952, and to extend for a term of twelve months thereafter.
And, Whereas, the Harnett County Democratic- Executive Committed and the members of
the Harnett County Bar has petitioned this Board to grant the requested leave of ab-
sence to Mr. Morgan, and further petitioned the Board to appoint Mrs. Elizabeth F.

Matthews to serve as Clerk of Superior Court of Harnett County during the term of
Mr. Morgan's absence.
AND ++HEREAS, it is the unanimous opinion of this Board that the application
of Honorable Robert B. Morgan for a Leave of absence should be granted, and that
Mrs. Elizabeth F. Matthews should be appointed to serve as Clerk of Superior
Court of Harnett County during his absence;
NOs, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of Commissioners of Harnett County
that Honorable Robert B. Morgan be and he is hereby granted a leave of absence
from his position as Clerk of Superior Court of Harnett County for a term of
twelve months, effective January 1, 1952.
AND BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that Mrs. Elizabeth F. Matthews be and she is here-
by appointed as Clerk Superior Court of Harnett County to serve during the term of
nonorable Robert B. Morgan's absence in such office, all as provided and authorized
by the provisions of Chapter 121, Section 2 of Public Lags of North Carolina, 1941.
Upon motion of Commissioner R. L. Pate, aeconaed by Commissioner aorth L. Byrd,
the foregoing resolution was unanimously adopted.
