HomeMy WebLinkAbout08061951August 6th. 1951 The Board of Commissioners of Harnett County met in regular session on Monday August 6th at 10 :30 A. M. with L. A. Tart, Chairman, R. L. Pate, 'Worth Lee Byrd, B. P. Ingram and C. G. Fields present. Also present were the County Attorney and Clerk to Board. The report of Robert Morgan C. S. C. was approved and ordered filed. The report of D. P. ray, Tax Collector was approved and ordered filed. The report or Inez Harrington, Register of Deeds was approved and ordered filed . 'lhe report of L. B. McLean, Veteran Service Officer was approved and ordered filed 3. P. Ingram moved seconued by R. L. Pate that Berles Johnson, Tax Supervisor deliver to D. P. Ray, Tax Collector of Harnett County the official tax receipt books for the year 1951 as soon as the books pre returned From the printers. To treat with an all- weather surface that certain road leading off of N. C. Highway No 421 at H. C. Roger's `Store and running northerly a distance of approxi- mately four miles to its intersection with N. C. Highway No 210 near Neill's Creek. Baptist Church. ' 3. To all - weather surface that link of road leading from State Highway # 421 at Hiram Stewart's Store, about one mile southeast from Buie's Creek to W. L. Franklins, near the intersection of this link with State Highway # 40, a distance of 2 miles, and known as the old wire road. 4. To all- wurface that link of road leading from A. C. Ennis's place on Main Street in the 'town of °Buie!s Creek to State Highway No 30, and Collier farm, a dis- tance of .7 of a mile, 5. Creek Township which runs-from Taylor Street in town of Buie's Creek to McKay_St.reet, thence. to Pope's Street thence to Taylor St. .a distance of 2,101 ft, 6. To construct a one mile section of the road leading from Broadway in Lee County to VGickers, near Barbecue Church in Harnett County, in said section of the road being sometimes called the "Pittman Road or Dead End Road ". This road is also known as the Warrick Road ". 7. To ail- weather surface that certain road in Barbecue Township leading off the Johnsonville Road appoximately a mile west of the residence of Ernest Brown and runn- ing thence in a northerlydirection one mile to the residence of D. B. Holder. 8. To hard surface that link of road is 2.7 miles and leads from the Coats Charlie Bailey road to Frank Elliott's place to- George Dorman's Store on. the Harnett and Johnson County line road. 9. To-open and build a road in Aversboro Road to the Dunn - Newton Grove Road, the said where the road which runs by the J. B. Weeks from'antther point on the Jonesboro Road and to the Dunn-Newton Grove Road. Cameron residence of Highway No 421 and running southwesterly by Yarborough and Clarence Cameron and Raymond Rosser and Fred Cameron into the Leaflet and Mount Pisgah Highway at Ed Hawley's. a distance of about 2.2 miles. 12. To hard- surface that road in Upper Little River'Township, Beginning at Highway No. 421 near the home of Alton Buchanan, and running thence, approximately 22 miles' to Mt. Pisgah Presbyterian Church where said road intersects with another public road, 13. To all- wether surface that road in Buckhorn Township -, which runs from Old. Oak Ridge School to A. S. Wagstaff Service Station or Wake County; line, a distance of 2.0 miles known as the Oak,Ridge Road. 65 14. To make an all - heather road from s. C. Dower's Filling station at Cokesbury to Baptist Grove Church a uistance of 3 and 1/10 miles in Buckhorn Township. 15. To make and all- ::ether road in Pick River Township ,✓hick runs from 'cake County line at Old Betts's place, now J. M. Pleasant's farm to Angier Chalybeate road and known as the Old McAlister Road a distance of 1.7 miles. 16. To widen and gravel that road in Blck River Township which runs from Henry Lewis ;cells place ty residence of E. P. Smith to an near residence of Mrs. E. L. Lewis and is known as Neighborhood road, a uistance of approximately 2 miles 17. To build a farm to market road in Stewart's Creek township, .which runs from J. Theodore McLamb to C. H.
