MARCH 12th 1951:
The Board of Commissioners of Harnett County met in a call session on Monday .
March 12th at 9:30 with C.G.Fields, Worth Lee Byrd, B.P. Ingram and R.L.Pate
present also present were the County Attorney,' the A uditor and the Clerk to the
Board. Chairman L.ATart was absent on account of' illness.

Bond in amount of $1000.00 with Maryland Casualty Company with Leo McGee,
Constable in Buckhorn Township as principal was approved and ordered filed with.
Clerk of Superior Court.

BALTIMORE
KNOW ALL MEN BY THES PRESENTS,, That Leo McGee, Holly Springs, N.C. as Principal
(hereinafter called Principal), and the Maryland Casualty Company, a corporation
of the State of Maryland, having its principal office in the City of Baltimore,
Maruland, as Surety (hereinafter called Surety), are held and firmly bound unto
the State of North Carolina (hereinafter called Obligee) in the penalty of One
Thousand and 00100 Dollars (01,000.00); to the payment whereof, well and truly
to be made and done, the said Principal binds himself, his heirs, executors and
administrators, and the said Surety binds itself, its successors and assigns,
jointly' and severally, firmly by these presents:
THE CONDITION OF THE AEOREGOING OBLIGATION IS SUCH, that WHEREAS, the said
Principal was appointed Constable for the term beginning on the;;5th day of
March 1951, and ending on the 6th day of December 1952.
NOW THEREFORE; if the said Principal shall, during the term of this bond, well
and faithfully perform all and singular the duties incumbent upon him by reason
of his election or appointment to said office, except as hereinafter limited, and
honestly account for all moneys coming into his hand, according to law, then this
obligation shall be null and void; it it otherwise to be and remain in full force
and virtue.
This bond is executed by the Surety upon the following express condition, which
-shall be a condition precedent to the right of recovery hereunder;
It is mutually understood and agreed between all parties hereto that if the
Surety shall so elect, this bond may be cancelled by giving thirty (30) days'
notice in writing to the said Obligee and his bond shall be deemed cancelled at
the expiration of said thirty (30) days, the said Surety remaining liable for all
xwu or any act or acts covered by this bond, which may have been committeed by the
Principal up to the date of such cancellation, under the terms, conditions and
provisions of this bond, -and the Surety shall, upon surrender of this bond and its
- release from all liability thereunder, refund the premium paid, less a pro rata
part thereof, for - the time this bond shall have been in force.

NORTH C,ROLINA
HARNETT COUNTY RESOLUTION
Commissioner Ingram introducted the following resolution, which was read:
WHEREAS, in recent years there has been a substantial increase in the cost
of living in Harnett County, as elsewhere; and
WHEREAS, the burdens and responsibilities of the respective officials of Harneett
County have substantially increased during recent year by reason of the increase
in the population of se &d county; and
WHEREAS, by reason of the above referred to conditions the salaries allowable
for the officials of Harnett County under existing legislation are in some instances
inadequate; and,
WHEREAS, the Board of Commissioner of Harnett County feel that provision should
be made by legislative enactment for the adjustment of the salaries of the officials
of Harnett County in the event said Board should deem it proper and necessary to
adjust such salaries;
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED By the Board of Commi sioners of Harnett County
that the Representatives of Harnett County now serving in the General Assembly
of North Carolina be and they are hereby refluested to secure the passage of a
bill authorizing the Board of Commissions of Harnett County, in their discretion,
to increase the salaries of the various elective and appointive officials of
Harnett County on and after July 1, 1951; provided, however, that said Board of
Commissioners shall not increase the salaries of any official or employee of
Harnett County by an amount in excess of 20 per cent of the salary now being paid
to such official or employee.
UNDER motion of Commissioner Pate, seconded by Commissioner Ingram, the
foregoing resolution was unanimously adopted.
NORTH CAROLINA.
HARNETT COUNTY RESOLUTION
Commissioner Pate introducted the following resoluuion which was read:
Whereas, we feel that the sum presently allowed by the General Statutes of
North Carolina to Commissioners for the partitioning of real estate is in dequate
and does not constitute either fair or reasonable compensation for the services
of such Commissioners; and,
Whereas, we feel that the amount to be allowed to such Commissioners should be
increased in order that the sum to be so allowed shall be commensurate with the
value of the services rendered by such Commissioners;
Now, therefore, be it resolved by the Board of Commissioners of Harnett County
that the representatives of Harnett County in the General Assembly be and they
are hereby Dequested to bbtain the enactment of Legislation which will fix the
pay of Commissioners for the division of lands in Harnett County at not less than
Ten Dollars per day;
AND BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that copies of this resolution be forwarded to
Honorable J.R.Youn? and Honorable Carson Gregory.
Upon motion of Commissioner Ingram, seconded by Commissioner Pate, the
foregoing resolution was unanimously adopted.
