Pate and Wor the Board were pre The report of ordered filed. 1: Commissioners of Harnett County met in regular session on 1951 with Chairman, L. A. Tart, C. G. Fields, B. P. Ingram, th Lee Byrd. The County Attorney, the Auditor and Clerk to sent. Robert Morgan, Clerk of Superior Court, was approved and The report of D. P. Ray, Jr., Tax Collector, was approved and ordered filed. The report of Inez Harrington, Register of Deeds, was approved and ordered filed. The report of L. B. McLean, Veteran Service.Officer, was approved and ordered filed. The Board allowed $60.00 to be paid by the County Funds to Claude H. Avery, for patroling the highway at the Erwin School during the school term. Bond with the Maryland Casualty Co. with Walter Lee Johnson as principal County Surveyor was approved and ordered filed with Clerk of Superior Court. MARYLAND CASUALTY COMPANY BALTIMORE KNOW ALL MEN BY THESE PRESENTS, that Walter Lee Johnson, Lillingten, N. C. as Principal (hereinafter called Principal), a nd the Maryland Casualty Co., a corporation of the State of Maryland, having its principal office in the City of Baltimore, Maryland, as Surety (hereinafter called Surety), are held and firmly bound unto the State of North Carolina (hereinafter called Obligee) in the penalty of One Thousand and 00 /100 Dollars ($1,000.00); to the payment whereof, well and truly to be made and done, the said Principal binds himself, his heirs, executors and administrators, and the said Surety binds itself, its successors and assigns, jointly a nd severally, firmly by these presents: The condition of the aforegoing obligation is such, that whereas, the said Principal was elected or ap- ointed County Surveyor, Harnett County, N.C. for the term beginning on the 2nd day of December 1950, and ending on the 2nd day of December 1952. NOW, THEREFORE, if the said principal shall, during the term of this bond, well and faithfully perform all and singular the duties incumbent upon him by reason of his election or appointment to said office, except as hereinafter limited and honestly account for all moneys coming into his hand, according to law, then this obligation shall be null and void; it is otherwise to be and remain in full force and virtue. This bond is executed by the Surety upon the following express condition, which shall be a condition precedent to the right of recovery hereunder; It is mutually understood and agreed between all parties hereto that if the Surety shall so elect, this bind may be cancelled by giving thirty (30) days' notice in writing to the said Obligee and this bond shall be deemed cancelled at the expiration of said thirty (30) days, the said Surety remaining liable for all or-any act or acts covered by this bond, which may have been committed by the Principal up to the date of such cancellation, under the terms, conditions and provisions of this bond, and the Surety shall, upon surrender of this bond and its release from all liability thereunder, refund the premium paid, less a pro rata part thereof, for the tine this bond shall have been in force. Voting against: None W. H. Harrington, Erwin,N. C. was released permanently of poll tax on account of physical disability, being a Worl War Veteran. Alonzo Hawley, Dunn, N.C. was released permanently of poll tax on account of physical disability, he being a World War Veteran. Be it resolved that the certain lot in the town of Dunn, N.C. formerly listed to Mrs. Willie Jackson and acquired by Harnett County under tax fereclosure Sale and Judgement SD #1774 A 852 be sold to John J.Tew and wife, Annie J.Tew for the sum of $160.00 cash, and the Chairman of Board is hereby authorized to execute deed and the Clerk will attest same. ro R.L. Bishop; continue tos erve as electrical inspectors for Harnett County and that said inspectors are requested to cooperate with each other to the "fuliiest possible extent to render prompt,effecieiit and uniforin electrical inspection serve service to the citizens of Harnett County. (Motion carried). • Upon motion of C. G. Fields, - seconded by Worth L. Byrd, John Mason was allowed $50.00 additional per month as travel in connection with duties as Superintendent of County Home. (motion carried). C. G. Fields moved, seconded by Commissioner Byrd that an additional $75.00 per month be allowed in Clerk of Superior Court Office making a total of $125.00 to be used for Clerical help. (motion carried)' C. D. McDowell presented to the Board his written resignation as Constable of Stewart.'s Creek Township and upon `motion duly made and seconded said resignation was accepted. Therefore, upon motion of Commissioner "Byrd duly seconded by Commissioner Fields, Eli Manning was appointed by unanimous vote as constable of Stewart's Creek Township to fill the unexpired term of-C.D. McDowell, said appointment to become effective upon the said Eli Manning_taking the oath and giving the bond required by law. (1) To take over, grade, and maintain that certain road in the village of Buses Creek leading off of Byrd Aventa between the residence of J L Reardon and L M Edgerton's Store and running in a Southeasterly direction to its intersection with N. C. Highway No. 421 Net above the residence of B. P. Marshbanks, a distance of four tenths of a mile, said road being known as "Shad" Street. (2) For maintainance a road in Johnsonville Township described as follows: Beginning at a point near Johnsonville Colored school and runs Northwesterly to the Johnsonville Olivia road a distance of approximately 1 2/10 miles. (3) Placed upon your map the following road in the said Anderson Creek Township to be repaired end maintained by the State Highway and Public Works Commission, said road being an outlet for some nine (9 families, and is two (2) miles in length: Beginning at or near the home of Edison Hayes in Anderson's Creek Township, and running thence in a northernly direction two miles to the junction with the Blacktown road near the home of Lemuel Black. (4) That road in Averasboro Township, and runs from Road #38 at Lonnie H. Alphin's Store, near Hodges' to Parley Word road and is known as Old Benson - Erwin road, a distance of 1.9 miles to be made an all weather surface for a farm to market road. (5) That Road in Anderson Creek Township which runs near the home of L. D. Black, northeast to J A Powell's and is known as the Fire Lane Road, a distance of 31 miles to be State maintained and made a sand road. (6) That certain road in Averasboro Township which runs from the Newton Grove highway to the Jonesboro highway and known as the Jernigan, Holland and -Surles road a distance of 1 mile to maintained by the State and ditching and grading. The following road petition was approved and ordered forwarded to the State Highway and Public Works Commission. To construct a road from the Duncan Oak Ridge hard surfaced road by Leo Baker's farm; throughthe farm of L.W.Bennett and others the distance of nine tenths of one mile.
