HomeMy WebLinkAbout05071962585 585 May 7th. 1962 The Board of Commissioners met in regular session on Monday, May 7th. 1962, at 10:00 A.M., with all members present. Also present were the County Attorney, the Auditor and the Clerk to the Board. The Following reports were approved: D. P. Ray Tax Collector Kyle Harrington Cle rk Recorders Court Inez Harrington Register of Deeds Ray Thomas & Ken Black Dog Wardens Elizabeth F. Matthews Clerk Superior Court L. B. McLean Veterans Service Officer B. H. Sellers and Roy Godwin Electrical Inspectors W. H. Stewart Sheriff The Following Road Petitions Were Approved: (1) To open up the north end of that street into new Highway # 421, known as Lucas Street in East Erwin. (Mail petition) (2) To black top that road # 1717 extension of Ash A"uenue, a distance of 14 miles. (Mail petition) (3) To black top that road known as the Guy Road in Averasboro Township. (Petition mailed to Curtis Ennis Box 333 for presentation) Commissioner Barefoot moved, seconded by Commissioner Byrd that J. B. Williams delinquent Tax Collector, be given a leave of absence beginning May 1st. 1962, for the months of May, June, July and August without pay and begin his duties again on September 1st. 1962. Motion carried. On motion of Commissioner Warren alai seoonded by Commissioner Byrd, Mrs. Pauline J. Tart has been granted the privilege to pay the sum of $200.00 per month in order to redeem her property that has recently been sold for taxes and the title is now being held by Harnett County. Upon recommendation ofThomas Allen, Tax Supervisor, the Board ordered the refund of $ 30.50 to J. F. Moore, Black River Twp. for 1961 taxes paid on a 1961 Chevrolet valued at $1805. listed in error. The car was purchased January 7th. 1962. And upon recommendation of Thomas Allen, Tax Supervisor, the Board ordered the refund to Olen C. Jernigan of $9.74 for an error in the value placed on a 1955 Chevrolet truck for the year 1960 in Averasboro Township. The value placed on the truck was $1160. and it should have been $600. Me4 en- earned. Commissioner Warren moved seconded by Commissioner Cameron, that John E. Ingraham, Public Accountant be and he is hereby appointed to audit the county offices at a cost of $1600.00. Motion carried. Commissioner Cameron moved that the road in Johnsonville Township # 1201 Harnett County N C be black topped at the earliest possible time, seconded by Commissioner Byrd and unanimously approved by said Board, and County Attorney, J. R. Young, was directed to write Mr. W. E. Horner in regard to same. Commissioner Byrd moved, seoonded by Commissioner Barefoot, that C.R. Ammons, County Farm Agent, be and he is hereby authorized to hire a laborer in the work of testing cattle for tuberculosis and bangs disease in Harnett County. Motion carried.
