DECEMBER 4th. 1961
The Board met in regular session on Monday, December 4th., with Chairman
Tart, Commissioner Barefoot, Commissioner Warren, Commission Byrd, Commission
Cameron present. Also present were theCounty Attorney, the Auditor and the Clerk
to the Board.

Be it resolved,that, that lot in Dunn formerly owned by Cornelia Williams which
lot is located at 709 East Divine Street with frontage of 50 feet on North side
of street and foreclosed by Harnett County for taxes be sold to Roscoe Galbreth and
Lillie Mae W. Galbreth and the Chairman of the Board ishereby authorized to execute
deed to Roscoe Galbreth and wife for the sum of $129.54 which is the net amount
due to the county for this sale and the clerk to Board will attest same.

In connection with the closin, of the above sale, the property is now listed
on the tax books of the county o Harnett and the Town of Dunn for the year
of 1960 and subsequent years.
The Board ordered that James W. Thornton of Averasboro Township, be refunded
$2.00 for over payment of taxes for year 1960 due to an error in charging tax
for that year.
Commissioner Barefoot moved, seconded by Commissioner Cameron that the Board
recommend to Sheriff Wade Stewart that W. B. Williams be appointed as a Special
Deputy Sheriff for the correction of delinquent taxes for Hrnett County.

Commissioner Byrd moved, seconded by Commissioner Barefoot, that the list of
Tax List Takers for the various townships as submitted by the Tax Supervisor for
the years of 1962 be accepted, as follows:

(1) To add to the State Secondary Road system that road in Averasboro
Township, a distance of 12 miles. Beginning at a point at Charles Miller's
home and continuing generally in.southernly direction across V. T. Lee and
R. D. Lee's lands entering the Bethsada Church road near J. T, Barefoot's home.

(2) To add to State System that road in Buies Creek a distance of 400
feet an extension of the N. C. Road # 1522 to McKay road.
(Petition mailed to L. D. Small for presentation)
(3) To black Top that road in Black River Township which begins at
Mangum Road, # 1512 to Road # 1513 which is one end of Road # 1403 a distance
of 1 mile.
(Petition mailed to State Highway)
Motion by Commissioner Warren, seconded by Commissioner Barefoot that
$ 3500.00 be allocated from the General Fund surplus to the Civil Defense
Program of Harnett County.
Motioncarried.
The county auditor was ordered to write the county checks for the county
employees on December 20th.
The Board ordered the County Offices closed Monday, December 25th,
Tuesday December 26th. and Wednesday December 27th. for the Christmas H©lidays
