HomeMy WebLinkAbout08301961513 AUGUST 30th. 1961 The Board of Commissioners met in a call session on Wednesday, August 30, at 8:00 P. M., with Chairman L. A. Tart, Commissioners Warren, Byrd and Barefoot present. Commissioner Cameron was absent. Carl Lucas, Civil Defense Chairman, was present and presented Colonel Victor W. Harris, of Fayetteville, Director of Area "C" of North Carolina Civil Defense Agency. Colonel Harris presented to the Board the plans for the Civil Defense organization and suggested that full time defense personnel be employed by the county, and estimated the cost to be $ 10,000 to $ 12,000 annually.
