JULY 5th. 1960
The Board of Commissigners met in regular session on 'Tuesday, July 5th., with
all members present. Also present were the County Attorney, the County Auditor.
and the Clerk to Board.

The Following Road Petitions Were Approved:
(1) To connect SR 1513 and SR 2015 in Buies Creek.
(Petition given to 'Truitte Johnson)
(2) To black top that road in Lillington Township which runs from
West end of McNeill to Highway # 27. at Spence'sStore a distance of 750 ft.
(Petition given to Truitte Johnson)
Commissioner Curran moved, seconded by Commissioner Warren. that the Auditing
Contract for the County Offices be given to John E. Ingraham. Certified Public
Accountant, Dunn, N C. for year 1959 -60. Motion carried.

Commissioner Byrd moved, seconded by Commissioner Warren, that the resignation
of Mrs. Fonrose Gore. Assistant Home Demonstration Agent. be accepted to take
effect August 1st. 1960.
Motion carried,
Commissioner Byrd moved seconded by Commissioner Warren. that Miss Alma
Jo Martin be and she is hereby appointed Assistant Home Demonstration Agent for
Harnett County to begin her duties August 1st. 1960.
Motion carried.
Commissioner Byrd moved, seconded by Commissioner Warren, that certain
bonds for certain County Officers with the Maryland Casualty Company, be
accepted. James F. Davis in the presence of the Board of Commissioners bound
Maryland Casualty Company on the bonds of D. P. Ray, Jr. in the amount of
$35,000.00• Lola O'Quinn in the amount of $5.000.00; Alice Patterson in the
amount of $5.000.00; Kyle Harrington in the amount of $5,000.00 and Bernice
Temple ixs` the amount of $1000.00.
Motion carried.
Commissioner Curran moved, seconded by Commissioner Warren, that all Harnett
County employees be put under the State Retirement System on January 1st. 1964,
if the Board of Commissioners as thenconstituted find funds available for this
purpose.
Motion carried,
The 1960 -61 budget resolution was presented to the board and accepted on
tentative basis and a copy was placed on file, with the Register of Deeds and
with each commissioner.

KNOW ALL MEN BY 'THESE PRESENTS, That Duncan Patterson Ray, Jr. as Principal
(hereinafter called Principal) and the Maryland Casualty Company, a corporation of
the State of Maryland, having its Principal office in the City of Baltimore,'
Maryland, as Surety, (hereinafter called the Surety) are held- and firmly bound
unto the Harnett County Board of Commissioners, Lillington,'North Carolina,
(hereinafter called Obligee) in the penalty of Thirty -Five Thousand and no /00 - --
Dollars ($35,000.00) to the payment whereof,we!ll and truly to be made and done,
the said Principal binds himself, his heirs, executors and administrators, and the
said Surety binds itself., its successors and assigns, jointly and severally, firmly
by these presents.
THE CONDITION OF THE AFOREGOING OBLIGATION IS SUCH, thatWhereas, the said
Principal was appointed Harnett County Tax Collector for the term beginning on the
1st, day of July, 1960, and ending on the 30th day of June 1961,

THIS BOND, is executed by the Surety upon the following express conditions, which
shall be conditions precedent to the right of recovery hereunder:
IT IS MUTUALLY UNDERSTOOD AND AGREED BETWEEN ALL PARTIES HERETO, that if the
Surety'shall so elect, this bond may be cancelled by giving thirty (30) days'
notice in writing to the sad, said Obligee and this bond shall be deemed cancelled
at the expiration of.said thirty (30) days, the said Surety remaining liable for all
or any act or acts covered by this bond which may have been committed by the Princi-
palup to the date of such cancellation, under the terms, conditions and provisions
of this bond, and the Surety shall, upon surrender'of this bond and its release
from all liability thereunder, refund the premium paid, less a pro rata part thereof
for the time kxs this bond shall have been in force.
AND IT IS FURTHER MUTUALLY UNDERSTOOD AND AGREED BETWEEN ALL PARTIES HERETO
that the Surety shall . not be liable to the said Obligee for any loss or losses
resulting by reason of the failure of the said Principal to collect any portion
or all taxes which he may be chargeable to collect by reason of his election or
appointment to skid office and tht said Surety shall not be liable for failure of
the said princial to take any legal action to collect such taxes.
AND IT 1$ FURTHER MUTUALLY UNDERSTOOD AND AGREED BETWEEN ALL THE PARTIES
HERETO, that thesaid Surety shall not be liable to the said Obligee for any losses
resulting to the said Obligee by reason of any public moneys being now on general
or special deposit or hereafter placed on general or special deposit by the said
Principal, with anybank, depository, or depositories, or by reason of the allowance
to or acceptance by said Principal or any interest thereon, any Law, Decision, Statu
or Ordinance to the contrary notwithstanding.
