HomeMy WebLinkAbout11021959NOVEMBER 2nd. 1959 The Board of Commissioners met in regular session on Monday; November, 2nd. 1959, with Chairman L. A. Tart, Bill Warren, Worth Lee Byrd, Alex Cameron, and Joe Currin being present. Also present were the County Attorney, the Auditor, and the Clerk to Board. The Following reports were approved and filed: Inez Harrington Elizabeth F. Matthews Kyle Harrington D. P. Ray L. B. McLean Roy Thomas Roy Godwin B. H. Sellers W. H. Stewart Register of Deeds Clerk Superior Court Clerk Recorders Court Tax Collector Veterans Service Officer Harnett Co. Dog Warden Electrical Inspector Electrical Inspector Sheriff The County Offices were ordered closed from 3 :00 P. M. to 4 :00 P. M. for the funeral of Attorney Neill McKay Salmon. The Board ordered the County Offices closed on November 26th. 1959 for Thanksgiving Day. The Following road petitions were approved: 1. To build amdimaintain the road in Stewart's Creek Township which begins at Bunnlevel to Erwin Road by way of Bunnievel School a distance of 3/10 miles. (Petition given to Worth Lee Byrd for presentation.) 2. To add to system and maintain that road in Averasboro Township, which runs from Old Guy road to Delano Street known as Ash Avenue less than 1 mile in distance. (Petition mailed) The Following Resolution was adopted unanimously: Whereas, a life long Whereas, service for to act, Almighty God in his infinite wisdom has removed from our midst, and devoted resident of Harnett County: And, Neill McKay Salmon has always willingly, given thf his time and • the good of Harnett County in any capacity that he might called upon Now, Therefore, be it resolved by the Board of County Commissioners , in meeting assembled, this the 2nd. day of November, 1959, that when we adjourn today, that we do so in memory of Neill McKay Salmon; That a copy of this resolution be sent to his family, and that a copy be spread upon our minutes as of this date.
