HomeMy WebLinkAbout04271959e MINUTES OF BOARD .OF EQUALIZATION & REVIEW FOR YEAR 1959 The County Board of Commissioners convened and sat as a County Board of Equalization and Review for.their'First Meeting of 1959, on Monday, March 23, 1959, at 10 :00 A. M. in the - courthouse at Lillington, N. C. All members of the Board were present. Those present were L. A. Tart, Chairman, Worth Lee Byrd, Alex Cameron, Joe Currin, and W. A. Warren. The meeting was called to order by Chairman, L. A. 'fart. Before entering upon their duties all members of the Board subscribed to the following oath and filed with the clerk of the Board of County Commissioners. I. do solemnly swear that I will faithfully discharge my duties as a member of the Board of Equalization and Review of Harnett-County, North Carolina, and that I will not •allow my actions as a member of said Board to be influenced by a personal political friendship or obligation. This the 23 day of March, 1959. MARCH 23, 1959 The following townships were gtren an opportunity to come in before the Equalization Board and be heard: Only taxpayers who had their real estate values affected or disturbed as much as $100. during the year 1958 were entitled to appear before the Equalization Board: Buckhorn, Hector's Creek, Neil's Creek, Averasboro, Duke, and Grove Marvin & Viola Griffin from Averasboro 'Township appeared in regard to their property located in said township. The Board of Equalization requested the County Appraisal Board to check this property. After the Appraisal Board checked aaid property and reported to the Board of Equalization & Review no change in values was given to saidttaxpayers. Earl Lever appeared in regard to the valuation of his property located on N. Orange Ave. Duna.; N. C. After it was explained by Tax Supervisor that his property could not be revalued until the County had a general revaluation Mr. Lever was satisfied with his existing values. The Board recessed to reconvene for the second meeting to be held April 27, 1959. APRIL 270 1959 The County Board of Commissioners convened as a board of equalization and Review for their second meeting for 1959. The following townships were given the privilege of appearing before the Equalization Board: Black River, Stewart's Creek, Anderson Creek, Lillington, Upper Little River, Barbecue, and Johnsonville. All members of the Board of Equalization and Review were present. H. M. 0/Quinn appeared in regard to the value on his residence which was placed on said residence in 1958. Since there was no change in value on said property in as much as $100. there was no relief for Mr. 0/Quinn whose property is located in Upper Little River Township. The Board of Equalization and Review adjourned for its final meeting for the year 1959. Berles C. Johnson, Clerk
