HomeMy WebLinkAbout04061959258 APRIL 6th. 1959 The Board of Commissioners met in regular sessinn on Monday, April 6th. at 10:00 A. M., with L. A. Tart, Chairman, W. A. Warren, Alex Cameron, Joe Curran and Worth Lee Byrd present. Also present were the Clerk to the Board, the Auditor, and the County Attorney. The following Reports were approved: and placed on file Kyle Harrington Elizabeth F. Matthews Inez Harrington D P Ray Earl H. WT'lls. L B McLean B H Sellers Clark Recorders Court Clerk Superior Court Register of Deeds Tax Collector Dog Warden Veterans Service Officer County Electrical inspector The Board ordered that Julius Thornton, Erwin # 1 be released of Poll Tax for year 1959, on account of physical disability. Commissioner Cameron moved, seconded by Commissioner Warren that the tax valuation of property in Harnett County as provided in S. B. No. 162 be set for the 'Year 1964. Motion carried, Commissioner Warren moved, seconded by Commissioner Cameron -that Commissioner Byrd be andhhe is hereby appointed to work out a plan for furnishing fuel oil to the differenct county offices as will be satisfactory to oil dealers in Lillington and report the plan at the next meeting Motion carried Commissioner Currin moved, seconded by Commissioner Byrd, that a special Local Tax Election for the area composing School District # 4 be held. Motion carried. The Following Road petitions were approvedc (1) To maintain that road in U per Little River which runs from Harrington's Bridge Road to McDougald Road, a distance of 2/10 mile. (Petition mailed) (2) To maintain that road in.Averasboro Twp. which runs from the road near Joel Ennis home place to Floyd Whittenton's home a distance of 3/10 mile. (Petition mailed) Miss Lela Moore Hall, Supt, of PublicWelfare of Harnett County, came before the Board and stated that the Attorney General hid ruled that the Geddie case was Lee County s responsibility and not that of Harnett County. Commissioner Warren moved, seconded by Commissioner Byrd ;` that in the event Lee County does not accept its responsibility in the case of the Geddie children that Harnett County proceed to process action against Lee County. Upon request of Miss Lela Moore Hall, Supt. of Public Welfare, Commissioner Byrd moved, seconded by Commissioner Warren, that the Auditor be authorized to transfer $2000.00 from the A.P.T.D.
