HomeMy WebLinkAbout03021959MARCH 2nd. 1959 The Board met in regular session on Monday, March 2nd. 1959, at 10:00 A. M. with Chairman L. A. Tart, Commissioners W. A. Warren, Joe Currin, Worth Lee Byrd, and Alex Cameron present. Also present were the Clerk, the Auditor, and the County Attorney. The Following Reports were approved: Elizabeth F. Matthews Inez Harrington Kyle Harrington D. P. Ray, Jr. L. B. McLean Hoy Godwin Earl H. Wells Clerk Supertor Court Register of Deeds Clerk Recorders Court Tax Collector Veterans Service Officer County Electrical inspector Dog Warden The Following Road petitions were approved: (1) To black top that road in Buckhorn Township which runs from Hard surface road at Oak Ridge to Cokesbury a distance of 4 miles. Petition given to Jeter R. Jones for presentation (2) To improve that road in Anderson Creek Township, which runs from Old Nursery Road East 1j miles of highway 87 to Highway # 87, a distance of 2 miles Petition filed. (3) That the Highway Department extend and join the streets south 17th St and north 17th Street for through traffic between West C. Street and Old Wire Road, Petition given to W. A. Warren. Commissioner Byrd moved, seconded by Commissioner Warren that John H. Averitte, Lillington. N C. be and he is hereby appointed Constable in Lillington Township to begin his duties upon presenting bond in the amount of $1000.00 Motion carried The Board ordered the County Offices closed on Easter Monday, March 30th. At a meeting of the Board of Commissioners of Harnett County held on the 2 day of February, 1959, W. A. Warren offered the following resolution and moved its adoption: That Whereas, the County of Harnett has in its employee many persons who are under no bond whatever to the County of Harnett: AND WHEREAS, all the officials of said countyare under a bond, as is required by law; AND WHEREAS, the Board of Commissioner deem it expedient that all employees of said county be required to be under bond during the tenure of services with said county. NOW THEREFORE IT 1S HESOLVED that in addition to the officials that all other employees of said county be required to be under bond, and that the Board of Commissioners of Harnett County order a blanket bond covering each and every employee of said county 'in the blanket sum of $5000.00, and that the Board of Commissioners pay the premium for said bond.
