HomeMy WebLinkAbout02021959242 FEBRUARY 2nd. 1959 The Board of Commissioners met in regular session on Monday, February, 2, 1959, with Chairman L. A. Tart, Commissioner Alex Cameron, Commissioner W. A. Warren, Commissioner Joe Currin and Commissioner Worth Lee Byrd present. Also present were the-Clerk to Board, the Auditor and J. R. Young, County Attorney. The Following Reports Were Inez Harrington Elizabeth F. Matthews Kyle Harrington D P Ray L B McLean Earl Wells B H Sellers Roy Godwin App oved and Filed: Register of Deeds Clerk Superior Court Clerk Recorders Court Tax Collector Veterans Service Office Dog Warden Electrical inspector Electrical Inspector Commissioner Alex Cameron moved, seconded by Commissioner Joe Currin, that Louvenia McLean, cook at jail, be raised to $22.50 per week. Motion carried. -Upon recommendation of Beries Johnson, Tax Supervisor, the Board voted unanimously to extend the tax listing of property inthe several Townships of the County through February 14th. The Following road petitions were - approved: (1) That road in Barbecue Twp. which runs from McDougald road to Swann Station Road, a distance of . mile. Petition mailed. (2) To add to Highway System that road in Stewart's Creek Township which runs from Bunnlevel Erwin Road at residence of Winnie Word McAllister to Oak Grove colored cemetery a distance of 4/10 mile. X Petition given to Herbert McNeill for presentation) We the County Commissioners of Harnett County; North Carolina, agree to Co- Sponsor a study of the Upper Little River Basin as it lies in Harnett County for the purpose of developing a Watershed Project under Public Law 566, and hereby appoint Com. Alex Cameron to sign the necessary papers, forms, or documents pertaining thereto. The Board voted unanimously that $238.03 be paid to North Carolina Association of County Commissioners for dues for year 1959. Bond # 90- 614067 with Herbert D. Carson, Jr. Auditor as Principal. was approved and filed Public Official Bond No. 90- 614067 MARYLAND CASUALTY COMPANY BALTIMORE Know All Men By These Presents, That Herbert D.- Carson, Jr. as Principal (hereinafter called Principal) and the Maryland Casualty Company, a m rporation of the State of Maryland, having its principal office in the City of Baltimore, Maryland, as Surety, (hereinafter called Surety) are held and firmly bound unto the.Board of Commissioners, Harnett County, North Carolina (hereinafter called Obligee) in'the penalty of Five Thousand and no /100 Dollars ($5,000.00) to bhe pOment whereof, well and truly to be made - and'done, the said Principal binds himself, his heirs, executors andradministrators, and the said Surety binds itself, its successors and assigns, jointly and severally, firmly by these presents. THE CONDITION OF THE AFOREGOING OBLIGATION IS SUCH THAT WHEREAS, .THE SAID Principal was appointed County Auditor for the term beginning on the 1st day of December, 1958 and ending on the 1st day of December, 1959. NOW, THEREFORE, if the said Principal hhaii during the term of this bond well and faithfully perform all and singular the duties incumbent upon him by reasonof his election or appointment to said office, except as hereinafter lim- ited, and honestly account for al moneys coming into his hands according to law, then this obligation shall be null and void; it is otherwise to be and remain in full force and virtue, 243' THIS BOND is executed by the Surety upon the following express condition which snail be conditions precedent to the right of recovery hereunder: IT 1S MUTUALLY UNDERSTOOD AND AGREED BETWEEN ALL PARTIES HERETO, that if the Surety shall so elect, this bond may be cancelled by giving thirty (30) days' notice in writing to the said Obligee and this bond snall be deemed cancelled at the expiration of said thirty (30) days, the said Surety remaining liable for all or any act or acts covered by this bond which may have been committed by the Principal up to the dateof such cancellation, under the terms donditions and provisions of this bond, and the Surety snail, upon surrender of this bond and its release from all liability thereunder, refund the premium paid, less a pro rata part thereof, for t11e time this bond shall have been in force-. AND IT IS FURTHER MUTUALLY UNDERSTOOD AND AGREED BETWEEN ALL THE PARTIES HERETO, that the said Surety shall not be liable to said Obligee for any loss resulting to said Obligee by reason of any public moneys being now on general or special deposit or hereafter placed on general or special deposit by or on behalf of th e said Principal with any bank, depository, depositories, or by reason of the allowance to or acceptance by said Principal of any interest thereon, any Law, Decision, Statute, or Ordinance to the contrary notwithstanding.
