FEBRUARY 2nd. 1959
The Board of Commissioners met in regular session on Monday, February, 2,
1959, with Chairman L. A. Tart, Commissioner Alex Cameron, Commissioner W. A.
Warren, Commissioner Joe Currin and Commissioner Worth Lee Byrd present.
Also present were the-Clerk to Board, the Auditor and J. R. Young, County
Attorney.

Commissioner Alex Cameron moved, seconded by Commissioner Joe Currin, that
Louvenia McLean, cook at jail, be raised to $22.50 per week. Motion carried.
-Upon recommendation of Beries Johnson, Tax Supervisor, the Board voted
unanimously to extend the tax listing of property inthe several Townships of
the County through February 14th.
The Following road petitions were - approved:
(1) That road in Barbecue Twp. which runs from McDougald road to Swann
Station Road, a distance of . mile. Petition mailed.
(2) To add to Highway System that road in Stewart's Creek Township which
runs from Bunnlevel Erwin Road at residence of Winnie Word McAllister to Oak
Grove colored cemetery a distance of 4/10 mile.

We the County Commissioners of Harnett County; North Carolina, agree to
Co- Sponsor a study of the Upper Little River Basin as it lies in Harnett
County for the purpose of developing a Watershed Project under Public Law
566, and hereby appoint Com. Alex Cameron to sign the necessary papers, forms,
or documents pertaining thereto.
The Board voted unanimously that $238.03 be paid to North Carolina Association
of County Commissioners for dues for year 1959.

Know All Men By These Presents, That Herbert D.- Carson, Jr. as Principal
(hereinafter called Principal) and the Maryland Casualty Company, a m rporation
of the State of Maryland, having its principal office in the City of Baltimore,
Maryland, as Surety, (hereinafter called Surety) are held and firmly bound unto
the.Board of Commissioners, Harnett County, North Carolina (hereinafter called
Obligee) in'the penalty of Five Thousand and no /100 Dollars
($5,000.00) to bhe pOment whereof, well and truly to be made - and'done, the
said Principal binds himself, his heirs, executors andradministrators, and the
said Surety binds itself, its successors and assigns, jointly and severally, firmly
by these presents.
THE CONDITION OF THE AFOREGOING OBLIGATION IS SUCH THAT WHEREAS, .THE SAID
Principal was appointed County Auditor for the term beginning on the 1st day of
December, 1958 and ending on the 1st day of December, 1959.
NOW, THEREFORE, if the said Principal hhaii during the term of this bond
well and faithfully perform all and singular the duties incumbent upon him by
reasonof his election or appointment to said office, except as hereinafter lim-
ited, and honestly account for al moneys coming into his hands according to law,
then this obligation shall be null and void; it is otherwise to be and remain in
full force and virtue,

THIS BOND is executed by the Surety upon the following express condition
which snail be conditions precedent to the right of recovery hereunder:
IT 1S MUTUALLY UNDERSTOOD AND AGREED BETWEEN ALL PARTIES HERETO,
that if the Surety shall so elect, this bond may be cancelled by giving thirty
(30) days' notice in writing to the said Obligee and this bond snall be deemed
cancelled at the expiration of said thirty (30) days, the said Surety remaining
liable for all or any act or acts covered by this bond which may have been
committed by the Principal up to the dateof such cancellation, under the terms
donditions and provisions of this bond, and the Surety snail, upon surrender of
this bond and its release from all liability thereunder, refund the premium paid,
less a pro rata part thereof, for t11e time this bond shall have been in force-.
AND IT IS FURTHER MUTUALLY UNDERSTOOD AND AGREED BETWEEN ALL THE PARTIES
HERETO, that the said Surety shall not be liable to said Obligee for any loss
resulting to said Obligee by reason of any public moneys being now on general or
special deposit or hereafter placed on general or special deposit by or on behalf
of th e said Principal with any bank, depository, depositories, or by reason of the
allowance to or acceptance by said Principal of any interest thereon, any Law,
Decision, Statute, or Ordinance to the contrary notwithstanding.

Board at this meeting and were given authority to advertise for bids for
addition to the Courthouse.
Commissioner Warren moved, seconded by Commissioner Cameron, that $60.00
be allowed Clarence Moore, Special Deputy Sheriff, for his service in patroling
School Zone in Town of Erwin, Motion carried.
