HomeMy WebLinkAbout08041958AUGUST 4th. 1958 The Board of Commissioners met in regular session on Monday, August 4th., 1958 at 10:00 A.M. with all members present, except Joe Currin, who was absent. Also present were the County Attorney, the Auditor and the Clerk to the Board. No. 92- 532564 MARYLAND CASUALTY COMPANY BALTIMORE Know All Men By These Presents, That Hal William Brown as Principal (hereinafter called Principal) and the Maryland Casualty Company, a corporation of the State of Maryland, having its principal officein the City of Baltimore, Mary- land, as Surety (hereinafter called Surety), are held and firmly bound unto the State of North Carolina (hereinafter called Obligee) in the penalty of One Thousand and no /100 Dollars ($1,000.00); to the payment whereof, well and truly to be made and done, the said Principal binds himself,his heirs, executors and administrators, and the said Surety binds itself, its successors and assigns, jointly and severally, firmly by these presents. THE CONDITION OF THE AFOREGOING OBLIGATION IS SUCH, that Whereas, the said Principal was appointed Constable, Harnett County, North Carolina, for the term beginning on the 7th. day of July, 1955, and ending on the 1st day of December, 1955. NOW, THEREFORE, if the said Principal shall during the term of this bond, well and faithfully perform all and singular the duties incumbent upon him by reason of his election or appointment to said office, except as hereinafter limited, and honestly account for all moneys coming into his hands according to law, then this obligation shall be null and void; it is otherwise to be and re- main in full force and virtue. This bond is executed by the Surety upon the following express condition, which shall be a condition precedent to the right of recovery hereunder: It is Mutually Understood and Agreed Between,All Parties Hereto that if the-Surety shall so elect, this bond may be cancelled by giving thirty (30) days' notice in writing to the said Obligee and this bond shall be deemed cancelled at the expiration of said thirty (30) days, the said Surety remaining liable for all or any act or acts covered by this bond, which may have been committed by the Principal up to the date of such cancellation under the terns , conditions and provisions of this bond, and the Surety shall, upon surrender of this bond and its release from all liability thereunder, refund the premium paid, less a pro rata part thereof for the time this bond shall have been in force. Motion carried, Commissioner Womble moved, seconded by Commissioner Pleasant that the Cornelius Harnett Boarding Home be leased to Mr. J. D. &nd Mildred W. Mason for a term of 5 years. Motion carried. Commissioner Womble moved, seconded by Commissioner Pleasant, that the Superintendent of Cornelius Harnett Boarding Home be authorized to, purchase 5 bath tubs at a cost of $20.00 each. Motion carried. Commissioner Pleasant moved, seconded by Commission Womble, that Harnett County Library be allowed an additional $330.00 for operating the Library. Motion carried. The Board approved the following roads: (1) To asphalt pave that road in Averasboro Township which runs from Highway 301 west 395 feet thence south 700 ft. to corner of fence surrounding property of Nathane Gas Co. Inc. a distance of 1095 feet . (Petition given to L A Tart for presentation) (2) To pull up and grade and maintain that road in Grove Township which runs from L. N. Hayes to D S Langdon farm (mail petition) (3) To add to s9stem that road in Barbecue Township which runs from N C 87 to Benhaven School Road known as Graham Road a distance of 1.1 miles. )mail petition) (4) To hard surface that road in Grove and Black River Township which runs from Hollands Cross Roads in Johnston County tp Dr. Young's Pon 210 Highway a distance of 2 miles (Petition mailed) The Board ordered the County Offices closed on September 1st. County Board of CoMmission- ers that the appropriation to the Harnett County Library for the fiscal year 1958 59 failed to include the sum of $330 necessary to discharge the 1957 -58 deficit for said Harnett County Library, and it now appears that the State Library Commission will not appropriate funds for the Harnett County Library unless the Harnett County Board of Commissioners will appropriate the additional sum of $330 to discharge said deficit; and WHEREAS, the County now has on hand in the General Fund unencumbered and unappropriated funds in excess of said sum of $330; NOW, THEREFORE, be it resolved by the Board of Commissioners of Harnett County: 1. That the sum of $330 be and the same is hereby appropriated from the General Fund Surplus to be used for the purpose of discharging the deficit in- curred by the Harnett County Library for the fiscal year 1957 -58. 2. That the 1958 -59 budget resolution be and the same is hereby amended and increased in the amount of $330, said increase to be financed by surplus funds on hand July 1, 1958 and not uded in the original Budget Reso'lution or any amendment thereto to meet expenses for the current fiscal year.', 3. That the Harnett County Auditor be and he is hereby authorized and directed to transfer said sum from the General Fund Surplus to said', appropria- tion.
