The Board of Commissioners met in regular session on Monday, June 2nd. 1958,
at 10:00 A. M., with all members present. Also present were the Auditor, the
County Attorney and the Clerk to the Board.

The resignation of Thelma Hinson, Home Agent, was accepted, effective
June 15, 1958.
The resignation of Sarah Ficquett, Assistant Home Agent, was accepted
effective June 30, 1958.
The Board granted a refund of $1.00 to G. M. Mitchell, Upper Little River
township on 1957 Tax Valuation on a dog, due to an error in listing.
Commissioner Womble moved, seconded by Commissioner Currin, that Wayne
Franklin be and he is hereby appointed Asst. Farm AL'ent for Harnett County to
begin as of this date at a salary of $400.00 per month plus travel allowance of
$70.00 per month, travel allowance to be paid by State.
Motion carried.
The Following Road Petitions were Approved;
(1) To hard surface that road in Neills Creek Township which runs
from U. S. 401 near M. A. Matthews to N. C. Highway 210 near the home of
N. A. Wester a distance of 2.5 miles.
Petition mailed
(2) To pull that road in Neills Creek Township, which runs from Buies Creek
Angier road to Judd Ennis home known as Old Brick Mill road a distance of 1 /10
miles.
Petition mailed
(3) To sand gravel that road in Barbecue Township which runs from dead end
off # 27 to Girdler home known as Peach Farm road a distance of 4/10 miles
Petition given to Davie L. Phillips for presentation.
(4) Take over and maintain that road in Duke Township, which runs from
N. C. # 421 to Olde Post Rokd known as Selwyn Drive a distance of 1340 feet
Petition mailed.
D. P. Ray was appointed Tax Collector for a term of 1 year
Upon ?lotion of Commissioner Pleasant, seconded by Commissioner Currin,
the following resolution was adopted by unanimous vote:
WHEREAS, Miss Thelma Hinson, Harnett County Home ASient and Miss Sarah
Ficquett, Assistant Harnett County Home Agent, have each submitted to the Harnett
County Board of Commissioners their respective resignations, which resignations
have been accepted by said Board, with regret; and
WHEREAS, the Board of Commissioners feels that Miss Hinson and Miss
Ficquett have rendered faithful,.- efficient and highly satisfactory service to
Harnett County in their respective capacities during the period of their employ-
ment by said County and said Board desires to publicly express its appreciation
and commend Miss Hinson and Miss Ficquett for such service;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED That the Harnett County Board of
Commissioners does hereby express to Miss Thelma Hinson and Miss Sarah Ficquett
its appreciation for the excellent service rendered by them to Harnett County
in their respective capacities the term of their employment by the County and
does hereby commend them for the excellent manner in which they have discharged
the duties and responsibilities in their respective offices.
The Board recessed to reconvene on Friday June 13th. at 10:00
