The proposition of Mr. Truelove, made on hie behalf by Mrs. Lax McLeod, attorney, - was in the amuunt of $402.14 and the Board was advised by the tax collector that - this represented all taxes, costs and penalties involved in said suit and the 1957 taxes on said lands. Upon motion of Commissioner Womble seconded by Commissioner Pleasant, the Board voted unanimously to convey its interest in said land to said Wilbert - Truelove upon payment of said sum of $402.14 and authorized the Chairman to execute deed, attested by the Clerk, covering the county's interest in said land upon receipt of said sum. - A delegation of approximately ten citizens from Erwin appeared before the Board and requested that the Board cause one d- the Rural Policemen of- Harnett County to take up residence in the town -of Erwin. .Various members of the delega -- tion addressed the Board on this question, pointing out -that much lawlessness now exists in Erwin and that in the opinion of the members of the delegation this con- dition could be grearly improved if a full time law enforcement officer resided in the town. The Board discussed said matter with the members of the delegation at length and within its own membership after the delegation left the meeting After fully considering all aspects of the matter, the Board adopted, by unanimous vote, the following resolution: - Whereas, a delegation-of outstanding public spirited citizens of Erwin has appeared before the Board, advised theBoard that there is a great amount of law breaking im the town of Erwin, and requested that one of the County's Rural Policemen be placed in Erwin, and Whereas, the Board appreciates the interest of these citizens and recognizes the need for additional law enforcement in said town,-but, -at the same time, does" - not feel-that the Board can employ an additional Rural Policeman at the present time and, likewise, does.not feel:that it should require one of the presently - employed Rural Policemen to move to Erwin. - Now, therefore, be it resolved -by theBBoard of Commissioners that the Sheriff and the Harnett County Rural - Policemen be and they are hereby requested, and said Rural Policemen are directed, to spend as much time as possible th the town of Erwin axid to cooperate fully with the citizens of said town, to take all possible action to control said lawlessness and maintain law and order on the highestpossi- ble level. - The Meeting Adjourned. 74-7 Clerk 89 THE FOLLOWING CHECKS WERE ISSUED DURING THE MONTH OF OCTOBER,1957 8609 Void 8610 Town of Lillington 8611 Emma Lee Jacobs 8612 Mrs. D C McKinney 8613 Vera Ryals 8614 Inez Byrd 8615 Mrs. John Hawkins 8616 Mrs. C V Hooper 8617 James Riggins 8618 Mrs. Wallace Black 8619 Mrs. Mack Black void Oct. rent Boarding Home care Boarding Home care Boarding Home care Boarding Home care Boarding Home care Boarding Home care Boarding Home care Boarding Horn care Boarding Home care 8620 Mrs. Earl Wester Boarding Home care 8621 Mr. & Mrs. John McLean Boarding Home care 8622 Smith Foster Home Boarding Home care 8623 Margie Johnson Boarding Home care 8624 Ina Ryals Boarding Home care 8625 Etta McNeill Boarding Home care 8626 Mr. & Mrs. George McLean Boarding Home care 8627 Annie L McDougald Boarding Home care 8628 Moody Rest Home Extra Boarding Home care 8629 Lillie Lett Extra Boarding Home care 8630 Stone Rest Home Extra Boarding Home care 8631 Mrs. John Mason Extra Boarding Home care 8632 Katherine McCollum Extra Boarding Home care 8633 Queenie Waddell " " 8634 Moody Rest Home II I1 8635 Johnston County Boarding Home Extra Boarding Home care 8636 Mrs. Lillie Coker u " 8637 John C Maynor " " 8638 Hood's Drug Store Medicine authorized by welfare Dept. 8639 Kelly's Drug Store Statement 8640 McKnight's Drug Store Medicine authorized by welfare Dept. 8641 Good Hope Hospital Inc Hospitalization 8642 Memorial Hospital N C Hospitalization 8643 N C Memorial Hospital " 8644 Lee County Hospital it 8645 Betsy Johnson Memorial Hospital Hospitalization 8646 Betsy Johnson Memorial Hospital " 8647 Rex Hospital " 8648 St. Joseph of the fines Hospital Inc " 8649 Duke Hospital 13 8650 Highsmith Hpspital " 8651 Outpatient Department Services authorized by welfare 8652 Good Hope Hospital Inc Hospitalization authorized by welfare 8653 Good Hope Hospital Inc " " 8654 Stone Rest Home Re- imbursement authorized by welfare D. 8655 Dr. M B Poole Dunn N C Professional service 8656 Dr. Dennis W.
