HomeMy WebLinkAbout10121965385 OCTOBER llth. 1965 TheBoard of Commissioners met in a ca11 meeting on Monday, October llth. at 7:30 p.m., with members of State Highway Department, at the office of Roger Weaver, and discussed the following: (1) Road Bond Vote on November 2nd. 1965 (2) Plans of how the money approved by the State and money provided for by the road bond issue would be expended. (3) Priority for road construction was discussed. Chairman Brock presided and Commissioner Mixon, Commissioner Womble and Commissioner O'Quinn were present. Commissioner Cotton was absent on account of illness. T meeting closed. Clerk to Board /7- /7 Chairman OCTOBER 12th. 1965 The Board of Commissioners met in a call session on Tuesday, October 12th. st 9:15 A.M., with all members present except Commissioner Cotton, who is 111. Also present were the nuditor and the Clerk to the Board. Chairman Brock called the meeting to order. Joining the Board in the Recorders Court Room were members of State Highway Commission of the Sixth District. Senator Robert B. Morgan introduced Joe Hunt, Chairman of Highway System, who spoke on the bond issue and told of advantages of the $300,000.000.00. He also recognized Clyde Adams who will boost the drive for the Bond Issue. Also present with the group were the Mayors of the towns, County Officials and many intereeted citizens of the county. Commissioner Womble moved, seconded by Commission Mixon, that the following Resolution be and the same is hereby adopted. WHEREAS, the Board has heretofore designated Commissioners Womble and Mixon to proceed with the construction of a temporary type building to provide additional housing for the welfare department; and WHEREAS, some question has arisen as to the type and proposed length of service for said builling; and WHEREAS, it is the desire of this Board to make clear and definite the intended purpose and use of said building and the duration of occupancy; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, That Commissioners Womble and Mixon proceed with the plans for the construction of a mobile type building for temporary housing of a part of the personnel of the Welfare Department; and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED That said building be temporarily located on property adjacent to the present welfare building and that said building shall be so constructed that the same may be readily moved to another location; BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the building shall be a self - contained unit with any and all utilites serving said building not connected to any other building, but said building shall not remain on the present location designated for more than eighteen months. E. R. Bain, Attorney, with Bill Randall, Mayor, and W. K. Sexton of the Town Board appeared before the. Board and discussed with the Board the Fire Hazard in the fire district of Lillington which a temporary building for the Welfare Department would cause and suggested that a fire code be worked out for both the county and town. Plans will be made later. Commissioner Womble moved, seconded by Commissioner Mixon, thht an in- stallation of the telephone extension in the Sheriffs office and the town of Lillington office be connected with a telephone in the'911 so that the county and the town will have connections on Monday nights. Motion carried. The meeting closed.
