JUNE 7th. 1965
The Board of Commissioners met in regular session on Monday June 7th. at
9:00 A.M., with all members present. Also present were the County Attorney, the
Auditor and the Clerk to the Board.
Chairman Brock called the meeting to order and Commissioner Womble introduced
Reverend Don Bowen, Pastor of Lillington Baptist Church, who offered the invocation.
The following reports of the various offices were approved And ordered
filed:
Register of Deeds
Sheriffts Office
Clerk Recorders Court
Tax Collector
Clerk Superior Court
Veterans Service Officer
Electrical Inspector

The Board appointed Commissioner W.J. Cotton, Jr. a member of the welfare.
Board for a term of 3 years beginning July 1st. 1965.
Commissioner Mixon moved, seconded by Commissioner O'Quinn, that Harnett
County cooperate with the Town of Dunn and participate in the expense as to
materials etc. for installing a water line in the amount of $5,000.00 for
an Industry which may come into Harnett County. This amount to be paid from
other income sources other than tax payers monies.
Motion carried
Thomas Allen appeared before the Board and read a letter from Mrs.
R. E. Thorne, 1207. Arsenal Street, Fayetteville, N. C., requested relief from
tax valuation on building located on an 18: °acre tract of land in Johnsonville
Township, no action was taken in this matter.
The Board ordered a refund in amount of $2.46 to Mrs. Emma Holmes, Dunn
# 2 on 1.22 acres in Averasboro-- 'Township for year 1964 due to error in acreage.
The Following Road Petitions were approved:
(1) To black top that road in Grove Township., which is on # 1559
a distacne of 1 -2/10 miles.
Petition mailed to J.D. Norris, Coats # 1
(2) To black top that road # 1415 from Rawls Church to Oak Ridge a
distance of 2 -6/10 miles.
Petition mailed to District office, Fayetteville)
(3) To Black top that road in Old Olive Branch Road # 1430 a distance
of 1 -6/10 miles
Petition mailed to District Office, Fayetteville)
To drain and upkeep those Streets, E. Canary Street, E. Pope
Street Extension and Sampson Street in Averasboro Township, a
distance of 4 miles.
Petition mailed to District Office, Fayetteville.
(5) To add that road in Duke .Township which is between 1825 an
# 1826 a distance;o.f ,.03 miles,;
Petition mailed to District Office, Fayetteville.

The following Budget for the Month of June, 1965`£or the Harnett Agri- Business
Development Commission was approved and the Auditor was directed to pay $4,446.00
at this time.

The Budgets of the various offices were studied at this time.
The Board recessed and will reconvene on Monday, June 14th.at 10 :00 a.m.
