HomeMy WebLinkAbout05201965341 May 17th 1965 The Board of Commissioners met in a call session on Monday, May 17th. at 7 :30 P.M., all members of the Board were present. Also present was H. D. Carson, Jr. County Auditor, The Budget for the year 1965 -66 was discussed and studied. The Board recessed and will reconvene on Thursday, May 20th. at 9:00 A.M. ***-F****** ***** * **** ** *****i'r`.i:F *;FiFi'I***** **** *** MINUTES OF BOARD OF EQUALIZATION AND REVIEW FOR YEAR 1965. The County Board of Commissioners convened and sat as a County Board of Equalization and Review for first meeting of 1965 on Monday, March 15, 1965, at 10:00 A.M. in the courthouse at Lilltngton, N. C. All commissioners were present, County Attorney was present. The meeting was called to order by M. H. Brock, Chairman of the Board. Before entering upon their duties all members of the Board subscribed to the following oath and filed same with the Clerk of the Board of County Commissioners. "I do solemnly swear that I will faithfully discharge my duties as a member of theBoard of Equalization and Review of Harnett County, North Carolina and that I will not allow my actions as a member of said Board to be influenced by a personal political friendship or obligation. March 15th. 1965 The following townships were given an opportunity to come in before the Equalization Board and be Heard: Only taxpayers who had their real estate values effected or disturbed as much as $100. during the year 1964 were entitled to appear before the Equalization Board: Averasboro and Buckhorn Townships. James G. Nordan, Averasboro Township appeared before the Board on 95 /100 acre of land valued $3600. No change Mr. C.M. Butler appeared in behalf of Mrs. Elliot A. Peixotto property located on E. Broad Street, Dunn, N.C. known as Tucker Building, valued at $10,800. No changes made. Averasboro Township. Averasboro Township, Mrs. Minnie Byrd appeared before the Board on 9 9/10 acres and building valued $2800. No change. Averasboro Township, William E. & Brenda Sease appeared before the Board - dwelling located on 1 2/10 acres valued $19,232. No change Averasboro Township, Carl E. Tart appeared before the Board on incompleted building located on Godwin and S. Wilmington Streets, valued $8874. reduced to $7394. Averasboro Township, A. C. Wullenwaber appeared before the Board on a feed barn located on 2 acre tract valued $2093. Due to incorrect size reduced to $1652. Averasboro Township, Earl G. Vann appeared before the Board on dwelling located on Townsend Street valued $3698. No change Grove Township, W.L. & Max G. Matthews appeared before the Board on dwelling on 54 4 acres valued $2017. reduced to $500. The Equalization Board recessed after ample time was given for taxpayers whose values had been disturbed to appear before the Board. April 5th. 1965 The County Board of Commissioners convened as a Board of Equalization and Review for their second meeting for 1965. All Commissioners were present, also the County Attorney. The following resolution was adopted: Whereas, Agriculture Stabalization and Conservation has reduced the acreage allotment of tobacco by 19.55 %. Whereas, GS 105 -279 (3) authorized the Board of County Commissioners to decrease the value placed on farm commodities when fixed values per acre were used in the revaluation program. 342 And Whereas a fixed value per acre was used in the revaluation program in the year of 1964 in the amount of $720. based on the 1963 tobacco allotment. Now therefore be it resolved that $720. factor used as a base for valueing farm property be reduced by 20%. The said reduction be uniformly dis- tributed on all effected farm property. " The Board then recessed. April 15th. 1965 The County Board of Commissioners convened as a Board of Equaliation and Review for their third meeting for 1965. All commissioners were present, The Following townships were given the privilege of appearing before the Equalization Board: Johnsonville, Hector's Creek, Black River, Grove and Duke. Black River Township, Annie Butts appeared before the Board about the improvement to dwelling located on the 17 46 /100 acres valued $230. No changes made. Grove Township, Lester B. House appeared before the Board about the dwelling valued $7520. No changes made. Duke Township, George R. Joseph appeared before the Board in behalf of Erwin Parking Center 1 lot valued 440,463, reduced to $30,463. The Board then recessed. May 20th. 1965 The County Board of Commissioners convened as a Board of Equalization and Review fourth meeting for 1965. All Commissioners were present. The following townships were given the privilejlge of appearing before the Equalization Board; Anderson Creek, Lillington, Barbecue, Upper Little River and Stewartts Creek. Anderson Creek, Mrs. John W. Millican appeared before the Board in behalf of John W. Millican on 1 lot and dwelling valued $9564. No changes made. Upper Little River, Floyd Parker appeared before the Board in behalf of Mrs. Ada, Parker on dwelling located on the 491 acre tract valued at $1814. No change made. • Averasboro, Mrs. M. K. Williams, Mr. Hubert Williams appeared before the Board in her behalf on 1 lot and dwelling on 411 Board Street value $10,014. Reduced to $9564. by correcting footage on lot to read 70 x 165 instead of 75 x 165. Budkhorn, W. B. Tudor appeared before the Board on -dwelling located on 46- 65/100 acre tract value $4658. No change. Averasboro, William L. Corbin appeared before the Board on dwellings located on the 42 acre tract. One dwelling valued $1991. reduced to $1200. 1 storage building valued $2684. reduced to $1500. Another storage building valued $2538. reduced to $1200. The Equalization Board adjourned.
