HomeMy WebLinkAbout05171965341 May 17th 1965 The Board of Commissioners met in a call session on Monday, May 17th. at 7 :30 P.M., all members of the Board were present. Also present was H. D. Carson, Jr. County Auditor, The Budget for the year 1965 -66 was discussed and studied. The Board recessed and will reconvene on Thursday, May 20th. at 9:00 A.M. ***-F****** ***** * **** ** *****i'r`.i:F *;FiFi'I***** **** *** MINUTES OF BOARD OF EQUALIZATION AND REVIEW FOR YEAR 1965. The County Board of Commissioners convened and sat as a County Board of Equalization and Review for first meeting of 1965 on Monday, March 15, 1965, at 10:00 A.M. in the courthouse at Lilltngton, N. C. All commissioners were present, County Attorney was present. The meeting was called to order by M. H. Brock, Chairman of the Board. Before entering upon their duties all members of the Board subscribed to the following oath and filed same with the Clerk of the Board of County Commissioners. "I do solemnly swear that I will faithfully discharge my duties as a member of theBoard of Equalization and Review of Harnett County, North Carolina and that I will not allow my actions as a member of said Board to be influenced by a personal political friendship or obligation. March 15th. 1965 The following townships were given an opportunity to come in before the Equalization Board and be Heard: Only taxpayers who had their real estate values effected or disturbed as much as $100. during the year 1964 were entitled to appear before the Equalization Board: Averasboro and Buckhorn Townships. James G. Nordan, Averasboro Township appeared before the Board on 95 /100 acre of land valued $3600. No change Mr. C.M. Butler appeared in behalf of Mrs. Elliot A. Peixotto property located on E. Broad Street, Dunn, N.C. known as Tucker Building, valued at $10,800. No changes made. Averasboro Township. Averasboro Township, Mrs. Minnie Byrd appeared before the Board on 9 9/10 acres and building valued $2800. No change. Averasboro Township, William E. & Brenda Sease appeared before the Board - dwelling located on 1 2/10 acres valued $19,232. No change Averasboro Township, Carl E. Tart appeared before the Board on incompleted building located on Godwin and S. Wilmington Streets, valued $8874. reduced to $7394. Averasboro Township, A. C. Wullenwaber appeared before the Board on a feed barn located on 2 acre tract valued $2093. Due to incorrect size reduced to $1652. Averasboro Township, Earl G. Vann appeared before the Board on dwelling located on Townsend Street valued $3698. No change Grove Township, W.L. & Max G. Matthews appeared before the Board on dwelling on 54 4 acres valued $2017. reduced to $500. The Equalization Board recessed after ample time was given for taxpayers whose values had been disturbed to appear before the Board. April 5th. 1965 The County Board of Commissioners convened as a Board of Equalization and Review for their second meeting for 1965. All Commissioners were present, also the County Attorney. The following resolution was adopted: Whereas, Agriculture Stabalization and Conservation has reduced the acreage allotment of tobacco by 19.55 %. Whereas, GS 105 -279 (3) authorized the Board of County Commissioners to decrease the value placed on farm commodities when fixed values per acre were used in the revaluation program.
