July 28th. 1964
The Board of Commissioners met in a call meeting on Tuesday, July 28th., at
7 :00 P.M. with Chairman Alex Cameron, Commissioner Barefoot, Commissioner Brock and
Commissioner Byerly present. Commissioner Byrd was absent. Also present were the
County Attorney, the Auditor and the blerk to the Board.
Commissioner Byerly moved, seconded by Commissioner Barefoot, and the motion was
carried that the 1964 -65 Budget Resolution be adopted as follows:
1964 -65 BUDGET RESOLUTION
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS OF HARNETT COUNTY:
Section 1. The following amounts are hereby appropriated for the
operation of the county government and its subdivisions for the fiscal
year beginning July 1, 1964, . and ending on June 30, 1965, according to the
following schedules:

taxes as of January 1, 1964, for the purpose of raising the revenue from

Such rates of tax are based on an estimated total assessed valuation of
property for purposes of taxation as follows: County Wide Valuation-
$ 100,000,000.00. Special School District Valuation- $ 27,000,000.00, and
Buies Creek Rural Fire Department District- $ 3,000,000.00, and an estimated
rate of collection of ninety per cent (90 %) .

Commissioner -Brock moved, seconded by Commissioner Barefoot that the County
appropriate a fund of $ 500.00 for a loan to the Harnett County Livestock and
Poultry Cooperative Inc. to be used by the Cooperative for promotion concerning
Livestock and Poultry in the County. The said loan shall bear interest at the
rate of 6% and shall be payable on or before July 1, 1966, and that said Cooper-
ative shall file with the Auditor a promissory note executed by its President
and witnessed by its Secretary payable to Harnett County according to law.

The Board accepted the resignation of W. R. Gregory as Constable of Neills
Creek Township No. 2 as of July lst. 1964, and ordered the discharge of his bond.
