MARCH 2nd. 1964
The Board of Commissioners met in regular session on Monday, March 2nd.
1964 at 19:00 A. M. with all members present, Also present were the County
Attorney, the Auditor and the Clerk to the Board.
Rev. R. Lewis Beale, of Baptist Church, Angier, was guest minister and
gave the invocation.

Motion duly made, seconded and passed, that B. H. Sellers and Roy Godwin be
add they are hereby appointed Electrical Inspectors for Harnett County to serve
at the pleasure of the Board and either one shall make the necessary inspections
at the request of the Electrical Contractors or. the owner as required by the
Statue.
The Following Road Petitions Were Approved:
(1) To add to the state system that road in Upper Little River Township
which runs from Highway #1l21 at the home of Graham Wright to the right toward
Cape Fear River a distance of approximately 2 miles on which there are 4 occupied
homes.
(Petition mailed)
(2) To add to the state system that road in Lillington Township which
has as its beginning- at the Town limits and extending from Lillington in a
westerly direction to the Old Sanford Road.

Alex Cameron, Chairman, called attention to a schedule meeting of the
State Hignway Commission in the courtroom on March 10th., at 11:00 A.M.,
for the purpose of a hearing of the proposal of widening Highway # 401 from
Neill's Creek to the Wake County line.
The members of the Harnett County Development Committee will be invited to
meet with the Harnett County Board of Commissioners in the commissioners room on
April 6th. at 10 :00 A. M• for the purpose of organizing, and the clerk will notify
each member of this meeting.
The Board ordered the County Offices closed on Easter Monday, March 30th.
The Board of Commissioners will spit as a Board of Equalization and Review
at the courthouse beginning March 16th. at 10:00 A.M. Property owners from
the various Townships will be heard in the following order:
Averasboro Township March 16th. and March 19th,
Grove and Duke Townships March 23rd. and March 26th.
Black River, Neill's'Creetc, Hector's Creek and Buckhorn Townships
March 30th. and April 2nd.
Lillington, Stewart's Creek, and Anderson Creek Townships
April 7th. and April 9th.
Upper Little River, Barbecue and Johnsonville Townships
April 13th. and April 16th.

The Board of Corttssioners met in a call session on Monday, March
16th. at 10 :00 A.M.
Commissioner Byrd moved, seconded by Commissioner Brock, that
the property in Harnett County be assessed for taxation at a ratio
of 60% of the true or appraised value.
Motion carried.
On motion by Mr. Byerly, seconded by Mr. Barefoot, the ratio
purposes of real and personal property be set tentatively at 60
true value for the year 1964. The motion was unanimously carrie
the resolution were Barefoot, 8ameron, Brock, Byrd, and Byerly.
