HomeMy WebLinkAbout01061964174 JANUARY 6TH. 1964 The Board of Commissioners met in regular session on Monday January 6th. at 9:00 A. M., with Chairman Alex Cameron, Commissioner Byerly, Commissioner Brock, Commissioner Barefoot and Commissioner Byrd being present. Also present were the County Attorney, the Auditor and the Clerk to the Board. The invocation was offered by the Rev. Calloway of the Erwin Methodist Church. The minutes of the December meeting of the Board were read and after corrections were made, were approved. The Following Reports Were Approved and Filed: D. P. Ray, Jr. Elizabeth F. Matthews Inez Harrington Kyle Harrington Ken Black Jean Maness Roy Godwin B H Sellers Tax Collector Clerk Superior Court Register of Deeds Clerk Recorders Court Dog Warden Veterans Service Officer County Electrical Inspector County Electrical Inspector C. R. Ammons, Farm Agent, appeared before the Board and introduced Vance E. Hamilton and asked that he be appointed Assistant Farm Agent in Harnett County to replace Edsel Thompson who has resigned. Commissioner Barefoot moved, seconded, by Commissioner E. Hamilton, be and he is hereby appointed Assistant Farm County to begin his duties on February 17th. and serve the in December, 1964, at a salary of $147.54 per month Motion carried. Byerly, thkt Vance Agent for Harnett term ending First Mondy and Commissioner Brock moved, seconded by Commissioner Barefoot, that D. B. Dean Everett Barnes be aril they are hereby appointed County Wide Tax Appraisals for the year 1964. (Petition mailed) Commissioner Byrd resigned as Vice Chairman of the Board of Commissioners and his resignation was accepted as of this date. The Board appointed A. C. Barefoot as Vice Chairman of the Board of Comm- issioners, as of this date. The Board appointed Commissioner Fred M. Byerly to servie on the Building and Grounds- Committee. RESOLUTION The Following Resolution was offered by CommissionerByerly and seconded by Commissioner Byrd: WHEREAS, the Attorney General has ruled that pursuant to a judgment of the Superior Court Dr. W. B. Hunter, former Health Director of Harnett County, should be compensated in accordance with the judgment of the Superior Court in the amount of $3177.00; and WHEREAS, the State Board of Health has agreed to contribute 50.1 per cent of the above designated amount in full settlement of said judgment; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT the auditor is hereby authorized and directed from funds on hand an3 funds available to issue a voucher payable to Dr. W. B. Hunter and his attorneys in the sum of $3177.00. 177 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED That a copy of this Resolution be for - warded to the State Board of Health.
