HomeMy WebLinkAbout08051963119 August 5th. 1963 The Board of Commissioners met in regular session on Monday August 5th. 1963, with all members present. Also present were the County Attorney, the Auditor and the Clerk to the Board. The Following Reports Were Approved And Filed: Inez Harrington D. P. Ray Ruby T. Curran Kyle Harrington Jean Maness Roy Godwin KenBlaok Register of Deeds Tax Collector Ass't Clerk Superior Court Clerk Recorders Court Veterans Service Officer Electrical Inspector Dog Warden Be it resolved that the property formerly owned by George Davis McNeill and acquired by Harnett County under Judgment # SD # 2828 -A- 1789 be sold to Walter Beeohe McNeill for the sum of $ 107.70 and being 2 lots in Stewart's Creel Town- ship. The Chairman of the Board will exeoute deed to Walter Beeohe McNeill and the Clerk will attest same. The sohedule of fees as reoommended by judicial council are various offices effective and the olerk to the board is hereby publish the same. Jean Maness, Veterans Service Officer, of Harnett County is as compensation the same amount as that reoeived by the former Officer until Dec. 1st. 1963,which will end the unexpired term This to be effective August 1st. 1963. approved for the authorized to to receive Veterans Service of L. B. McLean, Commissioner Cameron moved, seoonded by Commissioner Warren, that Harnett County participate in the paving of the remaining part around the courthouse square in the same proportional part as the other owners of adjoining property will pay. Motion oarried. The Board ordered the County Offices closed on September 2nd. which is Labor Day and the Board will meet on Tuedday September 3rd. at 10 :00 A. M. Commissioner Cameron moved, seconded by Commissioner Warren, that the clerk to the Board be authorized to publish a notice of intent of the Board to apply to the Local Government Commission for its approval of an issuance of School Building Bonds in the amount of $ 4,000.000.00. And further that the Chairman be authorized and directed as agent of said Board to file the necessary application with the Local Government Commission. Upon motion duly made and seconded, the foregoing resolution was unanimously adopted. WHEREAS, D. P. Ray, Jr., was appointed and duly qualified as Harnett County Tax Collector for the year 1962 levy of county taxes and was charged with the duty of collecting all current and delinquent taxes and revenues due the county of Harnett for the period beginning July 1, 1962, and ending June 30, 1963; And, WHEREAS, the said D. P. Ray, Jr., Harnett County Tax Collector for the year 1962 levy has made settlement as provided by law for all items with which he was charged in connection with said 1962 levy; And, WHEREAS, the records of the said D. P. Ray, Jr., Harnett County Tax Collector, covering the oolleotion of all taxes and revenues he was charged with the duty of collecting during said term have been audited by John E. Ingraham, Certified Public A000untant, and found to be correct; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of County Commissioners of Harnett County that the final settlement of D. P. Day, Jr., Tax Colleotor for the year 1962 County levy be, and the same is hereby accepted and approved and the said D. P. Ray, Jr., Tax Collector, together with the surety on his official bond cov- ering the 1962 levy and the collection of delinquent taxes for the period between July 1, 1962 and June 30, 1963, be, and they are, subjeot to the provisions of law, hereby relieved of liability during said period.
