APRIL 1st. 1963
The Board of Commissioners met in regular session -on April 1st. at 10 :00
A. M. With all members present. Also present were the Clark to the Board,nthe
County Attorney and the Auditor.
The Following Reports were presented and approved:

Commissioner Barefoot moved, seconded by Commissioner Byrd, that all dogs
in the town of Lillington be quarantined from April 15th. to May 15th.
Motion carried.
The Board ordered that a certain lot in Duke Township listed to William
L. Turnage at a valuation of S 800.00 to be in error and the assessed value
should be $ 200.00.
The Harnett County Farm BureauBoard of Directors and members appeared
before the Board and discussed with them the valuation Of tobacco acreage
with the tax appraiser, Mr. Ottis Harvell.
Commissioner Byrd moved, seconded by Commissioner Warren, that the resignation
of J. Stanley Byrd, Rural Police, be accepted as of April lst. 1963.
Motion carried.
Bond # N 409161 with Lemuel Carr Gregory, Jr. as Principal with Home
Indemnity Company in the amount of $ 1000.00 was approved and ordered
filed with Clark Superior Court.

Sealed Proposals will be received by the Harnett County Board of
Commissioners of Harnett County, Lillington, North Carolina, at the
Courthouse until 10:00 o'clock A. M. on Thursday, April 29, 1963; and
thereafter immediately opened and read publicly for the furnishing of
materials, labor and equipment for construction of Site Improvements at
Harnett County Courthouse.
Proposals must be submitted in sealed envelopes, upon blank
forms provided in the copies of Specifications, Proposal and Contract.
These Proposals must be plainly marked, Proposal For Site Improvements For
The Harnett County Board of Commissioners.
Each bid must be accompanied by a certified check in the amount
of five per cent (5 %) of the total amount bid, as an evidence of good
faith. The checks of unsuccessful bidders will be returned as soon as
award of Contract is made. The check submitted by the person awarded the
Contract will be retained until the Contract is signed.
The County of Harnett, North Carolina reserves the right to reject
any or all bids, to waive formalities; and the right to select the bid,
the acceptance of which, will, in their judgment, best secure the efficient
performance of the work.
The Board recessed to reconvene on Monday, April 8th. at 10:00 A.M.
and on Monday, April 2.11th. at 10:00 A. M. n a
