Hubbard, Irene Lassiter, Harold Upchurch, Inez Harrington, Jean Irvin, Mae Marsh - banks, Tom Lanier, C. E. McLamb, Peggy Hope, Thomas Allen, Earl Jones, Corbett Coates, Herbert Carson, Wade Stewart, B. E. Sturgill Jack Brock, W. J. Cotton, Jr., Margaret Randall, James Goff, D. P. Ray, Jr., Bessie Moss, Dougald McRae and Gilbert Brown. The meeting was held in the new Social Services Building. Chair- man Brock called the group together at 9:15, to bring everyone up to date on the happenings and growth of the county. Also, for the purpose of hearing any complaints or suggestions from the Departmen Heads. He introduced Miss Mae Marshbanks, Co- ordinator of the Governors Council on the Aging for Harnett County and Corbett Coate operator of equipment of garbage program. Meeting terminated at 10:00 a. m. & 2 Record n 71. Secretary y SPECIAL MEETING JULY 22, 1971. The Commissioners convened on Thursday, July 22, 1971 at 10:15 a. m. in Special Session. All members of the Board were present. The Purpose of the meeting was to formally adopt the budget for the fiscal year 1971 -72. It was moved by Commissioner Cotton and seconded by Commissioner McLamb that the budget for the fiscal year 1971 -72 be adopted as follows and which includes a 50 Cost of living increthent for the Sheriff and the Register of Deeds, as provided by General Statute 153- 48.2(4); upon the recommendation of the County Attorney: 1971 -72 BUDGET RESOLUTION BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS OF HARNETT COUNTY: Section . District - $ 6,500,000.00, Spout Springs Fire District - $ 1,300,000.00, Flat Branch Fire District - $ 1,300,000.00, and an estimated r ate of collection of ninety per cent (90 %). Section 4. There is hereby levied a poll Tax of $ 2.00 on all male persons in the county between the ages of 21 and 50, unless exempt as provided by law, for the purpose of raising the revenue from current year's poll tax, as set forth in the foregoing estimates of revenue, and in order to finance the forego- ing appropriations. Section 5. Copies of this resolution shall be furnished to the county trea- surer and county accountant, to be kept on file by them for their direction in the disbursement of funds. McLamb Member, Board of Commissioners Member, Board of Commissioners TAX PAYMENT RESOLUTION Commissioner McLamb moved that the following resolution be adopted, Commissioner Ray seconded the move and it carried unanimously- RESOLUTION THAT WHEREAS, on June 30, 1971, the County of Harnett had in effect a schedule of discounts for payment or pre - payment of Ad Valorem taxes as follows: September October 1 % 0 1/2 % , and WHEREAS, a new machinery act has been passed by the North Car- olina General Assembly, and WHEREAS, Section 105 -360, paragraph (c) of said act, enables any county by resolution to continue such schedule of discounts in effect through Novemberl, 1971; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the schedule of discounts for payment or pre - payment of taxes through November 1, 1971, shall be as follows: 1.
