NORTH CAROLINA
HARNETT COUNTY R E S O L U T I O N
That Whereas, it appears to the County Board of Commissioners that
the uncollected tax account due to the County of Harnett include cer-
tain remaining tax balances for the years 1927 through 1959; and
Whereas, upon advice of the Tax and Welfare Lien Attorney and
other various county officials, it has been made to appear that the
taxes shown for the years 1927 through 1959 are uncollectable with
exception of a small amount of taxes under suit which may be recovered
in the future, and,
Whereas, it has been made to appear that it would be in the best
interest of the County to authorize the County Auditor to write these
tax balances off as uncollectable for accounting reasons and for the
purpose of disclosing a true picture of the County's assets of taxes
receivable, and
Whereas, much of the property listed for the years 1927 - 1959 are
listed erroneously and, in addition, taxes on same are uncollectable for
the reason that the statute of limitations on tax suits can be pleaded
in bar of recovery.
Now, Therefore, be it resolved that the County Auditor be and he
is hereby authorized as of June 30, 1970 to write off as uncollectable
all tax balances shown for the years 1927 through 1959.
This the 1st. day of June, 1970.
