THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS MET IN A CALLED SESSION ON THURSDAY, FEBRUARY
1, 1968 AT 2:30 P.M. WITH M. H. BROCK, CHAIRMAN, COMMISSIONERS WOMBLE, COTTON,
BROWN AND MCLAMB PRESENT.
CHAIRMAN BROCK PRESIDED OVER THE MEETING THAT WAS CALLED TO DISCUSS LEGAL
PROBLEMS OF THE COUNTY.
COMMISSIONER COTTON MADE THE MOTION, SECONDED BY C. E. MCLAMB, AND UN-
ANIMOUSLY CARRIED, THAT $1,000.00 BE APPROPRIATED FOR THE PURPOSE OF AMBULANCE
EXPENSE FOR HARNETT COUNTY TO BE PAID TO ANY CARRIER TRANSPORTING ANY RESIDENT
OF HARNETT COUNTY. ANY CARRIER SHALL SUBMIT THEIR BILL TO THE WELFARE DIR-
ECTOR FOR APPROVAL AND THE WELFARE DIRECTOR SHALL PRESENT THE BILL TO THE
COUNTY AUDITOR FOR PAYMENT.
MR. FRANK LEWIS APPEARED IN BEHALF OF COUNTY EMPLOYEES TO ASK THE COMM-
ISSIONERS TO APPOINT A COMMITTEE TO STUDY HOSPITAL INSURANCE PLAN FOR
EMPLOYEES. THERE SEEMS TO BE CONSIDERABLE UNREST AMONG THE EMPLOYEES DUE TO
RATE INCREASES BY BLUE CROSS —BLUE SHIELD COMPANY. AFTER DISCUSSION OF THIS
MATTER CHAIRMAN BROCK APPOINTED MR. W. J. COTTON, PURCHASING AGENT FOR THE
COUNTY, MRS. BLANCHARD AND FRANK LEWIS TO INVESTIGATE THIS MATTER AND REPORT
BACK THEIR FINDING TO THE EMPLOYEES AND THE BOARD AS SOON AS POSSIBLE.
COMMISSIONER C. E. MCLAMB MADE A MOTION THAT THE COUNTY PURCHASE A DESK
NOT TO EXCEED $150.00 AND DRAPERIES NOT TO EXCEED $25.00 FOR THE SHERIFF'S
OFFICE. THE MOTION WAS SECONDED BY W. J. COTTON, JR., AND CARRIED.
