HomeMy WebLinkAbout05081967MINUTES OF BOARD OF EQUALIZATION AND REVIEW FOR THE YEAR 1967 The County Board of Commissioners convened and sat as a County Board of Equalization and Review for the first meeting of 1967 on Thursday, April 20, 1967 at 9:00 A.M. in the courthouse at Lillington, N. C. All Commissioners were present. The meeting was called to order by M.H. Brock, Chairman of the Board. Before entering upon their duties all members of the Board subscribed to the following oath and filed same with the Clerk of the Board of County Commissioners. "I do solemnly swear I will faithfully discharge my duties as a member of the Board ization and Review of Harnett County, North Carolina, and that not allow my actions as a member of said Board to be influence personal political friendship br obligation. that of Equal - I will d by a APRIL 20th. 1967 The following townships were given an opportunity to come in before the Equalization Board and be heard: Averasboro, Black River, Buckhorn, Duke, Grove, Hectors Creek, Neils Creek. Mrs. Granville R. Stephenson appeared before the Board on the value that was placed on her dwelling that was located on the 10 acres tract in Grove Township. On motion by Mr. McLamb and seconded by Mr. Cotton, the Board voted no changes made on the dwelling valued $10,770. Connie D. Smith appeared before the Board on improvement on dwelling located at 1017 E. Cumberland Street in Averasboro Township. On motion by Mr. McLamb and seconded by Mr. Cotton the Board voted for no changes to be made on the improvement of dwelling valued at $439.00. Herelene S. White appeared before located on Carr Street in Averasboro and seconded by Mr. Cotton the Board valued at $540.00, and dwelling value the Board on 1 lot and dwelling Township. On motion by Mr. MoLamb voted no changes be made on the lot d at $4514• Edna Lee Jones appeared before the Board on improvement on dwelling located on 2 lots in Averasboro Township. Motion by Mr. McLamb and seconded by Mr. Cotton the Board voted to make no changes on improvement valued at S288. James Maryland Rankins appeared before the Board on 1 lot 50 x 163 located on N. King in Averasboro Township. On motion by Mr. McLamb and seconded by Mr. Cotton the Board voted no change in lot valued at $450. Mr. M. H. Brock by request from Ernest M. Barefoot appeared before the Board on 2 lots located in Duke Township. On motion by Mr. McLamb and seconded by Mr. Cotton the Board voted that the value of the lots be reduced from $644. to $300. The Equalization Board recessed after ample time was given for tax- payers whose values had been disturbed to appear before the Board. MAY 4. 1967 The County Board of Commissioners convened as a Board of Equalization and Review for the second meeting for 1967. All Commissioners were present. The following townships were given the priviledge of appearing before the Equalization Board: Barbecue, Anderson Creek, Lillington, Johnsonville, Upper Little River and Stewarts Creek. Duncan C. Wilson appeare dwellings located at 910 E. by Mr. Cotton and seconded valued $1800. and dwelling d before the Board on 1 lot 200 x 150 and Harnett Street, Averasboro Township. Motion by Mr. Brown the Board Voted no change on lot valued at $14,325. Ervin Thomas, Jr. appeared before the Board on 1 Lillington Township at 40% completed. On motion by by Mr. McLamb the Board voted no change in dwelling $4,103. dwelling located in Mr. Cotton and seconded not completed valued at N. W. McLamb appeared before the Board on 38.98 acres located in Stewarts Creek Township. Motion by Mr. McLamb and seconded by Mr. Cotton the Board voted no change on land valued at $4,471. and building at $2,849. The Equalization Board recessed after ample time was given for tax- payers whose values had been disturbed to appear before the Board. MAY 8th. 1967 The County Board of Commissioners convened as a Board of Equalization and Review for their third and final meeting for the year 1967. All Commissioners were present. William R. Pope appeared be Distributing Co. on warehouse Mr. McLamb and seconded by Mr. warehouse valued from $32,319. fore the Board in behalf of Pope's located in Grove Township. Motion by Cotton the Board voted to reduce the to $2.5,137. Mrs. Ishmael McDonald appeared before the Board and a 50 acres tract located in Johnsonville Towns McLamb and seconded by Mr. Cotton the Board voted On the 50 acres tract of land valued at $2484. bui Ida Felton Bell appeared by letter on 1 located in Averasboro Towsnhip. On motion by Mr. Cotton the Board voted no change on dwelling valued $5215. The Equalization Board Adjourned. on 120 acres tract hip.
