CALL TO ORDER
MORNING PRAYER
READING AND APPROVAL OF
MINUTES

The Harnett County Board of Commissioners met in regular session Monday, Novem-
ber 1, 1974. The following Board members were present: Chairman M. H. Brock,
Commissioners Bobby R. Etheridge, W. J. Cotton, Jr., C. E. McLamb, and
Gilbert Brown. Also present was H. D. Carson, Jr., Clerk to the Board. Ed
McCormick, County Attorney, was absent.
The Chairman called the meeting to order at 9:30 a.m.
Commissioner Bobby R. Etheridge offered the morning prayer.
The minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved.
Mr. H. C. Taylor from the Department of Transportation appeared before the
Board.
RE: Anderson Creek Fire Department. Commissioner Etheridge asked Mr. Taylor
to look into the matter of paving in front of the Anderson Creek Fire Depart-
ment.
The Board asked Mr. Taylor to call Mr. Cooper's attention to the Flat
Branch situation for a ditch on Road 1122.
Commissioner Brown asked Mr. Taylor to look into the matter of Road 1105. A
logging company is dragging logs over the road and ruining the road.
TAX COLLECTOR W. Earl Jones, Tax Collector, presented the report for his department.
TAX SUPERVISOR Mr. Thomas Allen, Tax Supervisor, presented the report of his department.
Mr. Allen submitted a request for the following refunds:
Robert B. Ogburn Black River Township 63.02
Danville J. $ Bonnie S. Langdon Black River Township 10.95
Commissioner Cotton moved that the refunds be granted and Commissioner
Etheridge seconded the motion. The motion was carried unanimously.

Mr. Allen presented the following request for release of penalty:

Commissioner Cotton moved that the release be granted Commissioner McLamb
seconded the motion and it was passed.
Commissioner Cotton moved that the Board contribute $25.00 to the Caswell
Center residents to aid in their Christmas Santa Claus. Commissioner
Etheridge seconded the motion. The motion was carried unanimously.
There was no action on the Engineering Feasibility Study and Report for
Sanitary Landfill south of Dunn - Erwin which was requested by Mr. Henry
Thompson, Director of Health Department. It was tabled until the first
Monday in December, 1974.
Commissioner Etheridge moved that the budget be amended in the amount of
$4,117.00 with the EEA Grant for the recreation program. Commissioner
Cotton seconded the motion and it was passed.
AND LILLINGTON GARAGE Awards for these bids have been made by the Buildings and Grounds Committee
and the companies have been notified. Commissioner Brown moved that the Board
accept the bids the Building and Grounds Committee recommended and Commissioner
McLamb seconded the motion. The motion was carried unanimously.
SIGNS ON DOORS Commissioner McLamb brought to the attention of the Board and to the Buildings
and Grounds Committee of needing a sign on the door of the Commissioners
Meeting Room to designate what room it is. Also signs for the Extension
Department were recommended and a closer for the door of James Goff's offices
to keep the heat downstairs and not all of it going upstairs (only if the
door is kept closed). There was no action taken in these matters.

Commissioner McLamb moved that the meeting be adjourned in honor of Atto
ney She Bryan who died November 3, 1974. Commissioner Cotton seconded
the motion.
There being no further business the meeting was adjourned at 10:30 a.m.
in Attorney Bryan's honor.
