The Chairman of the Board of Commissioners called a short meeting of the Board of Commissioners immediately following the public hearing on July 12, 1974, at 11:15 A. M. Commissioners Cotton, Etheridge and McLamb were present. Also County Attorney and Clerk to the Board were present. APPOINTMENT OF W. EARL JONES AS TAX COLLECTOR Commissioner Cotton made a motion that W. Earl Jones be appointed Tax Collector for the year 1974 -75, beginning July 1, 1974, Commissioner McLamb seconded the motion and the issue passed. Mr. Jones subscribed to the following oath, administered by Mrs. Georgia Lee Brown, Assistant Clerk Superior Court, and presented it to the Commissioners: I, W. Earl Jones, do solemnly swear or affirm that I will support and maintain the Constitution and laws of the United States, and the Constitution and laws of North Carolina not inconsistent therewith, and that I will faithfully discharge the duties of my office as Tax Collector of the County of Harnett, North Carolina, and that I will not allow my actions as Tax Collector to be influenced by personal or political friendships or obligations, so help me, God. /s/ W. INCORPORATE BUDGET ITEMS BY RESOLUTION Commissioner McLamb moved that the County Attorney be instructed to draw a resol- ution to incorporate the budget items approved by the Commissioners, contained in the trial budget proposal as it relates to the Commissioners, The County Purchasing Agent and the Interim County Manager. Commissioner Cotton seconded and the motion carried. EXPENSES TO THE NATIONAL CONVENTION Regarding ecpenses to the convention that will be more than allowed in the policy of the County, Commissioner Etheridge moved that those persons attending the con - vention in Miami be allowed to receive $75.00 for registration fees and $32.00 per day for accomodations, with proper documentation required, Commissioner McLamb seconded the motion and it passed. ADJOURNMENT Commissioner Cotton moved that the meeting be adjourned; this is the conclusion therefore, of the meeting convened on July 1, 1974. The time of adjournment was 11:35 A.
