A special meeting was called for May 23, 1974, at 12 noon for the purpose of receiv- ing bids for an Air Compressor for the use of the Harnett County Fire Departments in filling their air tanks. The Chairman Called the meeting to order at 12 noon with Commissioners McLamb, Brown, Cotton and Etheridge in attendance. Alsoiresent H. D. Carson, Jr., Clerk to the Boar and Edward McCormick County Attorney. The Chairman announced the official time for the opening of the bids for the Air Compressor. Attorney McCormick assumed the responsibility of opening the bids and they are as follows: 1. CONTRACT B/T COUNTY AND CITY GENERAL DISCUSSION High Pressure Equipment Co., Inc. Oklahoma City, Oklahoma 73106 Declined option to bid. Spartan Equipment Company Charlotte, N. C. 28205 Submitted a "No Bid ". Pressure Systems, Inc. 1712 B Spring Garden Street Greensboro, N. C. 27403 Bid Price for a Briston - Duplex Model HAE- 16 -E3, according to bid specifications. $ 4,822.85 191.00 sales tax $ 5,013.85 Bid deposit enclosed with bid for 5% of total bid. ACTION: Commissioner Cotton moved that the bid submitted by Pressure Systems in the amount of $5,013.85, be accepted for purchase by the County, to be paid from Revenue Sharing Funds and that the Chairman and the Clerk to the Board be authorized to execute the contract attached to the bid. Commissioner Etheridge seconded the motion and it carried. The County Attorney was instructed to work with Dunn Attorney, Wiley Bowen and draw a contract between the county and the Dunn Fire Department that would protect both the County and the Fire Department of the City of Dunn in the proper operations of the unit and to clarify the responsibilities of both parties. After a brief discussion of various matters, the Board saw Mrs. Crews, Director of Social Services Department regarding budget matters and procedures. The Board adjourned at 2:30 p.m. 'Secre 2 ary Clerk to Adi irman t - oard SPECIAL MEETING ON MAY 29, 1974 At a special meeting of the Board of Commissioners held on Wednesday, May 29, 1974, the following Commissioners were present: Commissioners Brock, McLamb, Brown, Cotton and Etheridge. Ado present, H. D. Carson, Jr., Clerk to the Board of Comm- issioners. The Chairman introduced the Drug and Narcotincs Program, prepared by Hank Avants from Cape Fear Criminal Justice Planning Region. This is a subgrant in connection with the Dangerous Drug and Narcotics, prepared for Harnett County. The sub -grant was approved by a motion by C. E. McLamb, a second by W. J. Cotton, Jr., and a un- animous vote. A letter of intent relative to the Harnett County Recruitment (dealing with 4 -night deputies for the Harentt County Sheriff Department); was authorized for execution by a motion of Commissioner Etheridge, a second by Commissioner McLamb and a unanimous vote.
