BOARD OF EQUALIZATION AND REVIEW MINUTES FOR THE YEAR OF 1978
FIRST MEETING
ECOND MEETING
HIRD MEETING
The first meeting of the Board of Equalization and Review was
held on April 24, 1978, at 10 a.m. in the Commissioners Room,
County Office Building, Lillington, North Carolina. The following
Commissioners were present: M. H. Brock, W. J. Cotton, Jr., and
Lloyd Stewart. The following oath was administered and each
Commissioner present ascribed thereto:

I, , do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support
and maintain the Constitution and laws of the United States, and the Constitut-
ion and laws of North Carolina, not inconsistent therewith, and that I will
faithfully discharge the duties of my office as a member of the Board of
Equalization and Review of Harnett County, North Carolina, and that I will not
allow my actions as a member of the Board of Equalization and Review to be
influenced by personal or political friendships or obligations, so help me God.

No property owner appeared before the Board.
The second meeting of the Board of Equalization and Review was
held on May 4, 1978, at 10 a.m. The following Commissioners were
present: M. H. Brock, Jesse Alphin, W. A. Shaw, Jr., and W. J.
Cotton, Jr., Commissioners Alphin and Shaw took the oath.
1. Curtis Stephens, Lillington Township, appeared before the
Board on the value that was placed on the addition of a carport
that was added to his house, valued at $2,712.
2. Moses Tripp, Jr., Averasboro Township, appeared before
the Board on an addition that was added to his house, valued at
$1,293.
3. W. K. Sexton, Lillington Township, appeared before the
Board on the value of 35/100 of an acre of land, valued at $500.
4. Willard Mixon, appeared before the Board on behalf of
Mrs. Josephine Mixon, on the Old Cottondale Hotel, valued at
$40,700.
The third and final meeting of the B.ard of Equalization and
Review was held on May 11, 1978, at 10 a.m. The following Commis
sioners were present: M. H. Brock, W. J. Cotton, Jr., and W. A.
Shaw, Jr.,, No one appeared before the Board. The following
decisions were made by the Board on the property owners that
appeared at the meeting of May 4, 1978:
1. Curtis Stephens, addition valued at $2,712. Commissione
Brock made a motion that the value remain as appraised. Commis-
sioner Cotton seconded the motion and it carried unanimously.
2. Moses Tripp, Jr., addition valued at $2,712, Commissione
Cotton made a motion that the value remain as appraised. Commis -
Shaw seconded the motion and it carried unanimously.
3. W. K. Sexton, 35/100 of an acre valued at $500, Commis-
sioner Cotton made a motion that the value be reduced to $350,
Commissioner Shaw seconded the motion and it carried unanimously.
4. JosephineeMixon, Cottondale Hotel, valued at $40,700.
Commissioner Shaw made a motion that the value remain as appraise

Commissioner Brock made a motion that the Board of Equalization a
review for the Fiscal Year 1978 be adjourned. Commissioner Cotto
seconded the motion and it carried unanimously.
