HomeMy WebLinkAbout080219886'2 ) PUBLIC HEARING CONCERNING PROPOSED SOUTHEAST WATER & SEWER DISTRICT, AUGUST 2, 1988 1 1 CALL TO ORDER INVOCATION PURPOSE The Harnett County Board of Commissioners held a public hearing regarding the proposed Southeast Water and Sewer District on August 2, 1988, in the Dunn Municipal Building, Dunn, North Carolina, with the following members present: Bill Shaw, Mack Reid Hudson, Mayo Smith, and Chairman Lloyd G. Stewart presiding. Others present were: Dallas H. Pope, County Manager; John M. Phelps, II, Public Utilities Attorney; Vanessa W. Young, Clerk to the Board, and Kay S. Blanchard, Recording Secretary. Chairman Stewart called the public hearing to order at 7 p.m. Commissioner Mayo Smith offered the invocation. Dallas H. Pope, County Manager, briefed the group that the purpose of the public hearing was to allow the public to comment concerning the proposed Southeast Water and Sewer District. Joe Hardee, Engineer, Black & Veatch, Inc., briefed the group on the results of the feasibility study for the proposed Southeast Water and Sewer District. OPEN FOR COMMENTS Chairman Stewart opened the hearing for public comments. The following citizens spoke in support of the proposed Southeast Water and Sewer District: SCHEDULE OF PROCEDURES ADJOURNMENT 1. Jesse Alphin, Rt. 4, Dunn 2. Milton Hudson, Rt. 4, Dunn 3. Wallace Warren, Rt. 4, Dunn 4. T. C. Miller, Mary Stewart Community 5. Edward Hargrove, Rt. 4, Dunn 6. 011ie Gray Warren, Rt. 4, Dunn 7. Magdelene Wood, Rt. 4, Dunn No one spoke in opposition to the proposed district. After completion of public comments from the group, Chairman Stewart asked citizens present for the public hearing if they would voluntarily express their views on creating the district by a show of hands. An overwhelming majority raised their hand in support of creating the district. No one raised their hand in opposition. John Phelps, Public Utilities Attorney, briefed the group on schedule for procedures to move forward with the proposed district.
