AREA, AUGUST 17, 1987 On August 17, 1987, the Harnett County Board of Commissioners held a public hearing concerning Proposed Rescue District for Coats Area in the County Office Building, Lillington, North Carolina, with the following members present: Bill Shaw, Rudy Collin Mack Reid Hudson, Mayo Smith, and Chairman Lloyd G. Stewart presiding. Others present were: Vanessa W. Young, Clerk to the Board; Dallas H. Pope, County Manager; Glenn Johnson, County Attorney, and Kay S. Blanchard_, Recording Secretary. CALL TO ORDER Chairman Stewart called the public hearing to order at 7:00 p.m. PURPOSE Glenn Johnson, County Attorney explained the purpose of the public hearing was to receive public comments concerning the proposed rescue district for Coats Area. PUBLIC COMMENTS Chairman Stewart opened the meeting for public comments. The following citizens spoke in support of the proposed district: PUB. HEARING CLOSED 1. Ray Wood, P. 0. Box 635, Coats, NC 2. Tim Brown, Coats, NC 3. Keith McLeod, Coats, NC 4. Barbara Byrd, Coats, NC 5. Edna Langdon, Rt. 1, Coats, NC One citizen, Mr. Shelton Whitman, Rt. 1, Coats, NC stated that he did not support the establishment of the proposed district. After completion of public comments from the group of citizens present for the public hearing, Chairman Stewart asked all citizens present to indicate by raising their hand if they were for or against the proposed rescue district. Based on this request, 18 (eighteen) citizens were for the proposed rescue district and 1 (one) against the pro- posed district.
