HomeMy WebLinkAbout051219872rd1 1987 BOARD OF EQUALIZATION AND REVIEW 1 FIRST MEETING SECOND MEETING THIRD MEETING The Harnett County Board of Equalization and Review held its first meeting on April 21, 1987, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 Noon in the Commissioners Room, County Office Building, Lillington, North Carolina. The following commissioners were present at the Board of Equalization and Review: Commissioners Lloyd Stewart, Mack Reid Hudson, and Mayo Smith. Others present were: Marshall Woodall, Tax Attorney, Appraiser Michael Brown, and Tax Administrator Bobby Wicker, acting as clerk. The Board of Equalization and Review had two taxpapers to question values: A. Jimmy Thomas, Rt. 1, Box 154, Sanford, N. C. 27330, U.L.R. Township Questioned the value placed on an old house located on his property. The house is in a run down condition and has been vacant for approximately two years. After hearing the appeal, the Board of Equalization and Review instructed the Tax Supervisor to review the property and report back to them at the May 5, 1987 meeting. B. James G. Weathers, Rt. 1, Box 89 -A, Fuquay Varina, N. C. 27526 Questioned value placed on his property and requested an adjustment. He has an old house that is being torn down and two tobacco barns that the top is off. The Board of Equalization and Review felt that we should take a look at the property and see if any adjustments should be made. The first meeting of the Board of Equalization and Review duly adjourned at 12:00 Noon. The Harnett County Board of Equalization and Review held its second meeting on May 5, 1987, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 Noon in the Commissioners Room, County Office Building, Lillington, North Carolina. The following commissioners were present at the Board of Equalization and Review: Commissioners Lloyd Stewart, Chairman, Rudy Collins, Bill Shaw, and Mack Reid Hudson. The following taxpayers came to appeal values as indicated on the notice of assessed value. A. Thomas and Lois Stewart, P. 0. Box 151, Erwin, N. C. 28339, Duke Township Question: Mr. Stewart felt that land value was too high for this particular parcel 2.5 acres which was broken out of a 18.65 acre tract. The value was placed at $900 /acre. It was the feeling of the Board to review this parcel and see if an adjustment was due. B. Christopher S. Black and Lois Butler Black, Rt. 1, Bunnlevel, N. C. 28323, Anderson Creek Township Question: To check on value of land purchased from Lois Butler Black. After a breakdown of factors, Mr. Black accepted this value. It was explained and he was happy with value. C. Gregory V. and Darlene Laton, Rt. 3, Box 15 -B, Cameron, N. C. 28326, Johnsonville Township Question: Mrs. Gregory felt that her value on an addition was valued too high. They had closed in a garage as use as the house. The Board felt that a review would be appropriate. D. Joan L. Baker, Rt. 1, Coats, N. C. 27521, Grove Township Question: Mrs. Baker had torn down the following: Garage Shop, Bulk Barn (sold), and Porch. This will come off in 1988. It was torn down after January 1, 1987. E. William T. Baldwin, Rt. 2, Box 263, Cameron, N. C. 28326, Johnsonville Townshi Question: Had an addition added. Did not understand. Wanted to verify. Was satisfied. F. Glenn and Diana Shaw, Rt. 2, Bunnlevel, N. C. 28323 Question: Land value. OK. The second meeting of the Board of Equalization and Review duly adjourned at 12:00 Noon. The Harnett County Board of Equalization and Review held its third meeting on May 12, 1987, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 Noon in the Commissioners Room, County Office Building, Lillington, North Carolina. The following commissioners were present at the Board of Equalization and Review: Commissioner Chairman, Lloyd Stewart, and Commissioner Mayo Smith. Others present were: Tax Administrator, Bobby Wicker, and Michael Brown. No taxpapers came to the Board of Equalization and Review to appeal values that were mailed out in Averasboro Township.
