RECONVENED SPECIAL MEETING, HARNETT COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS
RECONVENED
The Harnett County Board of Commissioners reconvened in special session on Wednesday,
June 25, 1986, in the Commissioners Room, County Office Building, Lillington, North
Carolina, with the following members present: Rudy Collins, Lloyd Stewart, and
Chairman Jesse Alphin presiding. Others present were: Vanessa W. Young, Clerk to
the Board; Dallas Pope, Assistant County Manager; and Bob Jones, Attorney. Commis-
sioner M. H. Brock was absent.
Chairman _Jesse Alphin reconvened the special meeting of the Board at 12:45 p.m. in
the Commissioners Room and reconvened the meeting to the County Manager's Office in
order to place a conference call to Commissioner Shaw so Mr. Shaw could be included
in the proceedings of the Board meeting.
NEGOTIATIONS WITH It was explained that since the Commissioners meeting on Monday, June 23, 1986, the
DAVIDSON $ JONES County officials had net with Davidson & Jones and had negotiated with them on their
construction price as presented to the Board at its meeting Monday, which was in the
amount of $2,696,421. Through these negotiations, Davidson and Jones had agreed to
reduce their price by $31,421 for a revised contract amount of $2,665,000. Following
a discussion, Commissioner Collins made a motion that the County approve the revised
contract amount of $2,665,000 with Davidson and Jones for the construction of the
Harnett County Law Enforcement Center; Commissioner Stewart seconded the motion and
it carried with a unanimous vote.
RECESS
Commissioner Collins made a motion that the County pay an initial $400,000 upon
acceptance by and conveyance of the Law Enforcement Center to Harnett County;
Commissioner Stewart seconded the motion and it carried with a unanimous vote.
Chairman Alphin recessed the special meeting of the Board until Wednesday, July 2,
1986.
