HomeMy WebLinkAbout05121983SECOND MEETING MAY 12, 1983 THIRD AND FINAL MEETING The second meeting of the Board of Equalization and Review was held on May 12, 1983, from 9 a.m, to 12 noon in the Commissioners Room, County Office Building, Lillington, North Carolina, as was duly advertised with the following members present M. H. Brock, Bill Shaw, and Lloyd G. Stewart. The, following oath was administered by Ruby'.Currin,and Bill Shaw ascribed thereto: HARNETT COUNTY, NORTH CAROLINA. I, Bill Shaw, do solemnly swear;, (or affirm) that I will support and maintain the Constitution and laws of the United States, and the Constitution and laws of North Carolina, not inconsistent therewith, and that I will faithfully dis = . charge the duties of my office as a member of the Board of Equalization and Review of Harnett County, North Carolina, and that 1 will not allow my actions as a member of the Board of Equalization and Review to be influenced by personal or political friendships or obligations so help me, God. The following property owners appeared before the second Board of Equalization and Review: l John L. Thomas, Barbecue Township, PN #1301 -- stated the value of his house was too high, and it was not complete. The property was reviewed and the Board reduced the value from $43,460 to $38,360. Frances Scates and Louis Agaliotis, Anderson Creek Township, PN #207, stated the value of their house was too high. The property was reviewed and an error was found and corrected. The Board reduced the value from $20,630 to $20 178. 3 Ernest L. Butten,'Johnsonville Township, PN #185 -- stated that his house was not complete. Property .was reviewed and found_to be only 50% complete. The Board reduced the value from $28,260 to $16,310. The second Board of Equalization and Review was recessed until May 19, 1983, which would be the date of the third and final meeting. The third and final meeting of'the Board of Equalization and Review was held on May 19, 1983,. from-9 a.m. to 12 noon- in-the Commissioners Room, County Office Building;. Lillington, North Carolina, as was duly advertised with the following members present M.H. Brock, Jesse Alphin, and Bill Shaw. The' following property owners appeared before the third and final Board of Equalization -and Reviews 1 John L. Harrington, Upper Little River Township, PN #634 :01 -- stated by letter that his value was too high. After reviewing the request, no change was made by the Board. Richard B. Harrington, Upper Little River Township, PN #634.03 -- stated by letter that there was no road frontage on his property. Error was corrected and the Board reduced the value from $7,230 to $5,290. Clarence Webb, Grove-.Township, PN #2073.03--stated by phone that the value was too high.- After reviewing this .request, no change was made by the Board. There being no further persons to apppear before the 1983 Board of Equalization and Review, it was duly adjourned at 12 Noon.on May 19, 1983. Thomas Allen, Tax Supervisor
