HomeMy WebLinkAbout2011/10/17 RESOLUTION TO ADOPT A UDO & MILITRAY CORRIDOR OVERLAY ZONING DISTRICT FOR HARNETT CTYHarnett C O U N T Y NORTH CAROLINA www.harnmorg A RESOLUTION TO ADOPT A UNIFIED DEVELOPMENT ORDINANCE (UDO) & MILITRAY CORRIDOR OVERLAY ZONING DISTRICT (MCO) FOR HARNETT COUNTY WHEREAS, the Board of Commissioners of Harnett County has previously adopted multiple Ordinances for the purpose of promoting the health, safety, and general welfare of the county residents; and WHEREAS, the County's authority to incorporate existing and revised Ordinances into a single regulatory document referred to as a Unified Development Ordinance (UDO) is pursuant to power granted by the General Assembly of the State of North Carolina, particularly G.S. 153A- 340; and WHEREAS, Harnett County Planning Staff has made the draft UDO and Military Corridor Overlay Zoning District available to the public and solicited comment and feedback from the same through public information sessions, stakeholder groups, committees, and the general public; and WHEREAS, Harnett County Planning Staff presents the Unified Development Ordinance (UDO) in order to consolidate development regulations into one user - friendly document, and to address evolving trends, land use and environmental policies and standards associated with growth; and NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS OF HARNETT COUNTY, NORTH CAROLINA hereby adopts the Unified Development Ordinance as the regulatory document to govern all unincorporated area of Harnett County specifically identified and delineated on the zoning map identified as The Official Zoning Map of Harnett County, North Carolina, and amends the Official Zoning Map to include the areas designated as the Military Corridor Overlay Zoning District as described within the Unified Development Ordinance.
