RESOLUTION
100th Anniversary of Rotary
w harnett.urg
Whereas, Rotary is a worldwide organization of business and professional leaders that
provides humanitarian service, encourages high ethical standards in all vocations, and helps build
goodwill and peace in the world; and
Whereas, Rotary's service and dedication as an organization is reflected in the service
and commitment demonstrated by the four clubs located in Harnett County; and
Whereas, the Dunn, Lillington, Dunn - Erwin, and Angier Clubs have throughout their
existence served our community through their support of organizations such as Boy and Girl
Scouts, Habitat for Humanity, Polio Plus, and the Boys and Girls Home at Lake Waccamaw; and
Whereas, this service is also reflected in each club's commitment to education through
scholarship programs, essay contests, and Rotary Youth Leadership Awards; and
Whereas, Rotary has a long and distinguished history of commitment to our County
which is apparent when noting the year of each club's charter: Dunn (1924), Lillington (1937),
Dunn -Erwin (1991), and Angier (1993).
Now, Therefore Be It Resolved that the Harnett County Board of Commissioners does
hereby congratulate and commend Rotary International on the one hundredth anniversary of its
founding, February 23, 2005, and does hereby extend its thanks to the Rotarians of our County
for their dedication and service to our community.
Adopted this 7s' day of September, 2004.

MANAGER'S OFFICE
There are four Rotary Clubs in Harnett County in order of age: Dunn (1924- ), Lillington
(1937- ), Dunn -Erwin (1991-), and Angier (1993- ). The February 23, 2005, will be the
100'h anniversary of Rotary. We would like a resolution by November, when we plan a
countywide celebration of the anniversary. The resolution should specify all the Rotary
Clubs and indicate the ongoing contributions of Rotary to the citizens of Harnett County.
There will need to be a copy of the resolution for presentation to each club at the time of
our local celebration. Some highlights that might be mentioned in the resolution are
Rotary support of:
The Polio Plus Campaign for eradication of polio around the world
The Boy Scouts
The Boys & Girls Home at Lake Waccamaw
Habitat for Humanity
Literacy in Harnett County
Rotary Youth Leadership Awards (RYLA)
Harnett Teacher of the Year
School essay contests
College scholarships for Harnett County high school graduates
Food drives
Thanks,
Ronnie Faulkner
