Minutes of Special Meeting (work session)
June 16, 2006
The Harnett County Board of Commissioners met in special session on Friday, June 16,
2006, in the conference room, Human Resources Department, County Administration
Building, 102 East Front Street, Lillington, North Carolina.
Members present: Beatrice B. Hill, Vice Chairman
Walt Titchener
Tim McNeill
Staff present: Neil Emory, County Manager
Wm. A. (Tony) Wilder, Assistant County Manager
Kay S. Blanchard, Clerk to the Board
Vice Chairman Hill called the meeting to order at 11:30 a.m. and called on Mr. Emory.
Mr. Emory led a discussion of the following items:
- Modification of language of General Statute regarding recreation fees
- Harnett County biotechnology brochure provided for the board from Economic
Development Department
- Review of bids for Western Harnett Campus for Central Carolina Community College -
bids exceeded budget by $800,000. The County will decide if it will provide the
additional funds.
- Benhaven Fire and Rescue issues have recently been in the media. The County
Manager and Commissioner McNeill met with Benhaven’s Board of Directors to
discuss the Department and its budget.
- Mr. Emory reported that there was a meeting at the Department of Social Services
between Mike Watson and representatives of Good Hope Hospital regarding inpatient
psychiatric beds. The Board of Commissioners expressed concerns with role of Social
Services in this issue.
There being no further business, the Harnett County Board of Commissioners special
meeting (work session), adjourned at 12:50 p.m.
