Minutes of Special Meeting (work session)
March 17, 2006
The Harnett County Board of Commissioners met in special session on Friday, March 17,
2006, in the Human Resources conference room, County Administration Building, 102
East Front Street, Lillington, North Carolina.

Staff present: Neil Emory, County Manager
Wm. A. (Tony) Wilder, Assistant County Manager
The Board of Commissioners traveled with the Board of Education on an activity bus for
a tour of schools in the morning, and on returning the Board of Commissioners met for its
regular work session at 1:30 p.m.
Staff from the Planning Department reviewed options for a collection method of the $500
per lot fee for recreation and park development. The Board adopted a resolution
establishing the fee at its regular meeting February 20, 2006.
The Board discussed the problem of trash along the highways, particularly on the route
into the Dunn-Erwin Landfill. Jerry Blanchard, General Services Manager, shared with
the Board the feasibility of using restitution program participants and community service
workers to pick up the trash. The Board discussed other alternatives as well.
There being no further business, the Harnett County Board of Commissioners special
meeting, March 17, 2006, adjourned at 2:30 p.m.
