The Harnett County Board of Commissioners met in special session on Tuesday, October 29,
2013, in the Commissioners Meeting Room, County Administration Building, 102 East Front
Street,Lillington,North Carolina.
Members present: Jim Burgin, Chairman
Gary House,Vice Chairman
Beatrice B. Hill, Commissioner
Joe Miller, Commissioner
C. Gordon Springle, Commissioner
Staff present: Tommy Burns, County Manager
Tony Wilder, Deputy County Manager
Dwight Snow, County Attorney
Kimberly Honeycutt, Interim Finance Officer
Margaret Regina Wheeler, Clerk to the Board
The following Board of Education members and staff joined the Board:
- Chuck Levorse, Member
- Vivian Bennett,Member
- Ray Bryant,Member
- Kevin Gregory, Member
- Bill Morris,Member
- Stan Williams, Superintendent
- John Birath Director of Facilities and Planning
- Bob Troutman, Finance Officer
- Terry Byrd, Clerk
Chairman Burgin called the meeting to order at 9:00 am. Chairman Levorse called the Board of
Education meeting to order. Mr. Morris led the Pledge of Allegiance and Commissioner
Springle led the invocation.
The following agenda was before the Board:

• 1 Sales Tax Referendum
• General Discussion

Commissioner Miller moved that the Board go into closed session for the following purposes:
1) To discuss certain personnel matters
2) To discuss matters relating to the location or expansion of industries or other businesses
in Harnett County.
Commissioner Hill seconded the motion that passed unanimously.
Commissioner Hill moved that the Board come out of closed session. Vice Chairman House
seconded the motion,which passed unanimously.
Commissioner Miller moved to adjourn the meeting at 1:45pm. Commissioner Springle
seconded the motion that passed unanimously._
