042905w HARNETT COUNTUY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS Special Meeting (Workshop) April 29, 2005 The Harnett County Board of Commissioners met in special session on Friday, April 29, 2005, in the Human Resources conference room, County Administration Building, 102 East Front Street, Lillington, North Carolina. Members present: Teddy J. Byrd, Chairman Beatrice B. Hill, Vice Chairman Dan B. Andrews Walt Titchener Tim McNeill Staff present: Neil Emory, County Manager Wm. A. (Tony) Wilder, Assistant County Manager Kay S. Blanchard, Clerk to the Board Chairman Byrd called the meeting to order at 11:30 a.m. and called on Mr. Emory. Mr. Emory led a discussion of the items listed below. 1. Congressman Bob Etheridge and State Director for USDA John Cooper will present a check in the amount of $4,000,000 for the South Central Sewer Project on May 6, 2005. 2. The old North West Harnett fire station will be sold at public auction at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, April 30, 2005. 3. Mr. Emory met with staff from the Town of Angier and informed them of the appraisal received on the old Angier rescue building. 4. Some parents of former clients of Harnett Production Enterprises have concerns with the current program at the Shawtown facility. 5. Proposed joint meeting with the Planning Board to discuss the Unified th Development Ordinance – Commissioner McNeill suggested May 16 prior to the Board of Commissioners’ regular meeting. 6. Non-emergency transports – Board discussed whether to start back providing transports in-house or to contract with a private company. The matter will be considered at the next regular Board meeting. 7. Effect on building inspections department because of increase in construction 8. Hospital issue 9. Request from citizens for container for white goods (large appliances) disposal – Commissioner McNeill suggested that the County provide a container for one day once or twice a year. 10. Trash on Brooks Mangum Road needs to be picked up. 11. Relay for Life celebration will be held tonight (April 29, 2005) at Harnett Central High School football field There being no further business, the meeting adjourned at 1:00 p.m. _____________________________________ Teddy J.
