040105w HARNETT COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS Special Meeting (work session) April 1, 2005 The Harnett County Board of Commissioners met in special session on Friday, April 1, 2005, in the Human Resources Conference Room, County Administration Building, 102 East Front Street, Lillington, North Carolina. Members present: Beatrice B. Hill, Vice Chairman Dan B. Andrews Walt Titchener Staff present: Neil Emory, County Manager Wm. A. (Tony) Wilder, Assistant County Manager Kay S. Blanchard, Clerk to the Board Vice Chairman Hill called the meeting to order at 11:30 a.m. and called on Mr. Emory. Mr. Emory led a discussion on the following items: 1. Floyd Hein issues with Public Utilities 2. Hospital issue – Betsy Johnson and Good Hope have invited the County to the mediation process to try to find a way to move forward to build a new hospital. 3. Building Inspections – There is a lot of pressure on inspectors due to increase in construction and there is a need to hire an additional inspector. The Board authorized Human Resources to advertise now for a new code enforcement officer position. 4. Currently there are Drivers Licenses Offices in Dunn and Lillington. There is a possibility that sometime in the future, both will close and one will be opened between the two areas. 5. The has been discussion with the Town of Erwin about a river walk access. Mr. Wilder reported on the following issues: 1. Fox and coyote are becoming more visible and may become a problem. 2. Discussion is ongoing regarding getting a two-way turn lane at Heister Ford, in Lillington.
