Minutes of Special Meeting (work session)
June 13, 2008
The Harnett County Board of Commissioners met in special session on Friday, June 13,
2008, in the Commissioner Conference Room, County Administration Building, 102 East
Front Street, Lillington, North Carolina.
Members present: Beatrice B. Hill, Vice Chairman •
Dan B. Andrews
Tim McNeill
Gary House
Teddy J. Byrd was absent due to military obligations.
Staff present: Neil Emory, County Manager
Kay S. Blanchard, Clerk to the Board
Vice Chairman Hill called the meeting to order at 11:30 a.m.
Mr. Emory led a discussion on the following items:
- Parks &Recreation close-out of River Park project
- Improvement plans for Barbecue Park
- Possibly receive clean water grant to use for West Park
- Proposed river access on Governmental Complex property near Farm Fair area
- River access at Wildlife area might close soon.
- Request from City of Dunn to purchase used vans for use by PALS
- Willis Gregory zoning issue—option of delaying consideration until new light
industrial district is created
- State will pay for half-time position in Soil Conservation Department
- Staff will meet with Jim Caldwell regarding Workforce Development.
- Roger Sheats has offered to enter into a contract with the County in order to help keep •
the Highway 401 project going. Mr. Emory will see what Mr. Sheats has in mind.
There being no further business, the work session adjourned at 1:00 p.m.
