Thank you for submitting the plans for the new Auction House. The plans have been
carefully reviewed by a qualified code enforcement official to examine for compliance
with the North Carolina Fire Prevention Code and all other fire protection regulatory
documents. There are some items that were found during the plan review process that
need to be addressed before a final inspection of the new facility can be given. These
items are outlined and described below.
• 906.1 Fire Extinguishers
o Additionally Install (1) 2A10:BC fire extinguisher in the pool equipment
room.
o All Fire extinguisher shall be properly mounted and tagged by a fire
extinguisher company.
o Portable fire extinguishers shall be provided within a 30 -foot (9144 mm)
travel distance of commercial -type cooking equipment. Cooking
equipment involving vegetable or animal oils and fats shall be protected
by a Class K rated portable extinguisher.
• 505.1 Address Numbers
o The physical address shall be installed on the building so that it is visible
from the street.
• 506.1 Knox Box

o A Knox Box installation is required for this building
o An order form can be obtained from this office or the box can be order
online at www.knoxbox.com.

• 1008.1.10 Panic Hardware
o UL 305 listed panic hardware is required on exit doors serving a
room/space with an occupant load >49, also indicated on Building code
summary. Panic hardware is not included on door schedule sheet B8 of
Drawings.
• 1004.3 Occupant Load Posting
o The occupant load posting shall be provided by the Fire Marshal's Office
at fire final inspection.
• 1006.1 Means of Egress Illumination
o The means of egress illumination shall not be less than 1 foot-candle at
the walking surface.
• 703.5 Rated Wall Identification
o Rated walls shall be permanently identified with signs or stenciling.
o Example: "1 Hour Fire Barrier Protect All Openings"
• 2703.5 Hazard Identification Signs
o Ensure that all required Hazard identification signage is installed as it
regards to pool chemical storage.
• Notes
o Provide a Knox Box on the building if not present currently.
o A final fire inspection is required.
o Schedule all fire inspections through the Fire Marshal's Office.
