Johnson Campbell University Facilities Maintenance PO Box 535 Buies Creek, NC 27506 Re: Campbell University Tent –Family Picnic (Event Date 9-28 Thru 9-30, Location - Football Stadium) One large tent and one small 20x20 Application Number 17-50042329 Mr. Johnson, Thank you for submitting the plans for the tents. The plans have been carefully reviewed by a qualified code enforcement official to examine for compliance with the North Carolina Fire Prevention Code and all other fire protection regulatory documents. There are some items that were found during the plan review process that need to be addressed before a final inspection of the new facility can be given. These items are outlined and described below. 2404.12 Fire Extinguishers. 2A-10B: C fire extinguisher shall be placed at tents/canopies with a travel distance not to exceed 100’ from any fire extinguisher. 2403.12.5.1 Arrangement of aisles. The arrangement of aisles shall be subject to the approval of the fire code official and shall be maintained clear at all times during occupancy. 2403.12.6 Exit Signs Exits shall be clearly marked. Exit signs shall be installed at required exit doorways and where otherwise necessary to indicate clearly the direction of egress when the exit serves an occupant load of 50 or more. 2404.4 Certification Provide a flame propagation certificate from the tent owner/company. 2404.6 Smoking Smoking shall not be allowed under tents/canopies. “NO SMOKING “signs shall be conspicuously posted under the tent. 2404.19 Generators Generators and other internal combustion power sources shall be separated from tents and canopies by a minimum of 20 feet and shall be isolated from contact with the public by approved means. 2404.16.2.1 LP Gas Containers Portable LP gas containers that are less than 500 gallons shall have minimum separation of 10 feet between the container and the tent/canopy.
