Mr. Barr,
Thank you for submitting the plans for the new swim club.The plans have been carefully
reviewed by a qualified code enforcement official to examine for compliance with the
North Carolina Fire Prevention Code and all other fire protection regulatory documents.
There are some items that were found during the plan review process that need to be
addressed before a final inspection of the new facility can be given. These items are
outlined and described below.
• 506.1 Knox Box
o A Knox Box Is required to be installed on the building.
o The Knox Box can be ordered online or an order form can be provided
through the Fire Marshal's Office.
• 505.1 Address Numbers
o The physical address shall be installed on the building so that it is
visible from the approach side.
o The numbers shall be of contrasting colors.
• 703.5 Identification
o Walls and partitions required to have protected openings shall be
permanently identified with signs or stencils. (Example "1- hour Fire
Barrier Protect All Openings")
• 2703.5 Hazard Identification Signs

o Due to the hazardous materials storage located in the building for
pool purposes, hazard identification signage complying with NFPA
704 shall be attached to the building in view of approaching fire
department apparatus.
