April 21, 2003
The Harnett County Board of Commissioners met in special session on Monday, April
21,2003, in the Commissioners Meeting Room, County Administration Building, 102
East Front Street, Lillington, North Carolina. .

Board of Education: Dr. James Bennett, Chairman

BOE staff present: Donald Andrews, Superintendent
Dan Honeycutt, Assistant Superintendent
Robert Troutman, Finance Officer
The purpose of the meeting was for the two boards to meet jointly to discuss use of the
Shawtown school facility.
At 4:00 p.m. Vice Chairman Hill and Board of Education Chairman Dr. James Bennett .
called their respective boards to order.
Superintendent Donald Andrews reported that the Board of Education had
unanimously voted to declare Shawtown School surplus property and wishes to offer
the property to the County fer $700,000. The Board of Commissioners had made an
offer in this amount for the property. The Board of Education will consider a
resolution to accept the County's offer of$700,000. for the Shawtown School property
at its meeting May 5, 2003.
After a general discussion on future needs and planning for various schools, the joint
meeting of the Board of Commissioners and Board of Education, April 21, 2003,
adjourned at 4:30 p.m.
